Hi Scotty !
I have a 2012 Ford Mustang GT with only 34,000km on it and it has never been winter driven. For about a year every so often the dash display will suddenly show the, "Service Advancetrac" warning, thereby disabling the ABS and traction control. What a pain. Using the Bluedriver code reader I just bought, the code C1B00-00 is the result. It says; "Steering Angle Sensor; No Sub Type Information". I've tried to find out about buying a replacement and there seems to be no info for a 2012 Mustang GT. I filled out an online form to the local Ford dealer and they never answered me. It's not a problem to get steering angle sensor part number for a 2011 Mustang GT. r. Why can't i find out my 2012 ? Did Ford do something brilliant for the 2012 model year like move the steering sensor from the steering column to the electric steering gear ? That way they can charge $$$ for something that shouldn't fail in the first place, especially with such low mileage. I get the feeling this problem started no long after I had the driver's side airbag replaced under a recall, but have no way to prove it. I can shut the ignition off and the code will disappear, but will appear again randomly. It happened yesterday as I was backing out of the driveway, and as soon I turned the steering wheel - the message appeared again. Today I drove the car about 90 miles and no message appeared. It's like it has a mind of it's own.
Thanks in advance, Scotty !!
Get the steering angle sensor changed by a pro mechanic who can then reset the system you can't do that yourself
Thanks, Scotty. The problem is that starting in 2012, Ford moved the steering angle sensor from the steering column to down inside the steering gear. Is this steering angle error message something that can be fixed through software at the dealer, or (heaven forbid) I've heard that in order to correct this re-occurring problem, the only fix is to replace the steering gearbox itself. I sure hope not, as that would be really expensive.
@ceejay2012gt Did you ever figure out if there was a way to replace the sensor itself? Having issues with my power steering rack after swapping it sadly. Might have to swap it with a used one, once again.
