Scotty,
I have a 2008 Ford Ranger. Manual 5 speed trans 4.0l, FX4 Off Road 9.75:1 compression ratio. I have about 250,000 kilometers on the original spark plugs. It still starts great at any temperature and the gas mileage is still as good as when I bought it with 51000 km on it. Probably 80% highway miles (I am a heavy equipment operator and my work sometimes takes me a long way from home, and driving to work and back to where I'm staying adds up to a lot of highway kilometers.) What's your opinion on whether or not I should change the plugs? I usually go with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" saying.
Love your YouTube channel and watch it all the time
Regards,
Bubba
Only one way to tell. Inspect them.
I would change them since you are way over their life span. They are worn out and they may draw more current result in damaging your battery. The new spark plugs gives you a better start in colder days too and they are not that expensive either.
the ignition system uses barely any power.
nonsense. It won't damage the battery
