Scotty,
I have a 2010 Acura MDX Advance with less than 43,000 miles on it. I purchased the SUV new in July 2010. It looks and runs like new.
Acura says the timing belt should be changed at 100,000 miles. The dealer says Acura recommends the timing belt be changed every 100,000 miles or 7 years, which ever comes first. Nothing in the manual says anything about 7 years.
The dealer says all hoses and belts they inspect look fine. The dealer has never recommended anything be done other than normal service.
Should I be concerned the vehicle is over 11 years old and have the timing belt replaced?
I would change it. Age can affect the timing belt and considering the interference engine, you better off changing it soon.
Definitely change it. Rubber deteriorates with age and I would not trust a timing belt pushing 12 years old no matter how few miles were on it.
