Toyota Camry rattling noise

Hi Scotty and Community,

I own a Toyota Camry 2010 2.4L petrol 151000Km Made in Australia .

I have a question regarding a rattling sound coming up after I changed the below:

- 4 spark plugs with the Genuine TOYOTA CAMRY 2.4 (ACV40) 2006-2011 Spark Plugs - torqued as per specs and contact grease;

- radiator coolant with the genuine Toyota Super Long Life Radiator Coolant - 50/50 Premixed Pink - coolant replaced and cooling system air free;

- engine oil - Genuine TOYOTA CAMRY 2.4 (ACV40) 2006-2011 Petrol & Diesel Engine Oil 10W-30 SM/CF

 - oil filter - Genuine TOYOTA  BT989269-0231 90915-YZZE2 AZ series.

Once all done and engine still running after making sure the cooling system is air free I took the car for a run. When I got to the flat road from my driveway that has a 25 degree angle and put the transmission gear on Drive I start accelerating. The engine started rattling like something was touching some fan pallets or the pistons were slightly touching something at the top of the piston chamber, a driving chain, water pump or anything in between but this sounded when the engine was on drive and accelerating. This keept occurring for a few days after the fluids replacement when the engine was cold and accelerated while on drive.

This was happening a week before I put the Gumout Fuel Injector cleaner to a full tank of 10% ethanol petrol.

When I added the Gumout to a full tank of petrol the engine started having a clacking noise during warming up for approx. 30 seconds like the pistons were bouncing from one side to other of the cylinder or something similar.

Once the petrol with the Gumout finished and did the refill with same petrol all noise eventually disappeared completely.

Can you please advise what can cause this noises after all this changes?

There is another question that I want to address to you:

I have replaced the Transmission fluid with the genuine Toyota at around 142000Kms. I put the same amount of fluid that came out.

I don't know if this fluid was ever replaced by the previous owners or this level is as per original manufacturer. The transmission is running great and I own this vehicle since it was 135000Km, never had issues with the transmission although the level showed on the deep-stick was always like this. I could notice slight improvement in shifting gears after changing the TRX fluid. I am concerned if the level of TRX fluid is too high will this can affect the transmission in the long run?

My question is why the deep-stick is showing that the fluid exceeds with around 4cm above the high level mark on the deep-stick and is this can be normal?

Thank you!

Please post the transmission fluid query as a separate question.

Was this the first engine oil change, after you purchased the car?

No, was the second oil change. I purchased the car at 135000Km and at that time the oil was clean as new. Not a spec of dirt. First oil change was at 142000Km when I changed the transmission fluid as well. Thanks

I did not add contact grease to spark plug. I dont see any instructions to do that.

Fuel injector cleaner is only added when the fuel tank is near empty like 1/4. So that it will mix well and also that is when the fuel tank will have accumulate the most water from condensation.

Check your engine oil level again on a flat ground in the morning before running the car. Might be on low level.

Check the connectivity of the connector to the ignition coil, it might have been damage during changing the spark plugs. One of them is not working.

Check the engine oil cap if it is loose.

Oil level at that time it was slightly low but with 1/4 of a litre.
Contact grease was showing on one of Scotty’s videos how and when to change spark plugs.
Cap is tight.
Gumout instructions said:
“Add entire bottle to nearly empty gasoline tank, then fill tank with up to 19 gallons of gasoline. For best results, do not refill tank until near empty.” I agree with you and Scotty was mentioning the same thing as you but Gumout Directions I followed just in case…
No tripped codes or issues with the coils. No misfires on any cylinders.
I only noticed that the engine is a bit slower when start moving from a stop after the spark plugs replacement when before it was an abrupt start.
You might be correct it has to be something related to the spark plugs. I’ll check again tomorrow.
Thank you!

Scotty's video below that I posted says not to use grease. Your car is new so the spark plug is most likely iridium.
