FYI I am replacing my families fleet with Toyota's 😉 .

Are Toyota's with CVTs good?  I am looking at 2017 Corollas and newer.

I am avoiding dual clutch transmissions.

Thanks!

Yes Toyota CVT is good; they've been making it for a very long time and they know how to make good ones. Just keep up with the basic maintenance (oil and filter change, cvt fluid change) and it'll last a you and it'll be reliable.

Well even Toyotas CVTs are worse than the most mediocre conventional automatics.

There are ones that are terrible like the K11? series, but they’re very rare in N.A

Corollas had the K313 which is a good CVT but bellow average transmission. They’re still very fragile, have to tendency to whine and drive wired as they age.

why? There are quite a few models that should be avoided like wildfire, a lot of used cars were ruined by previous owners, doesn’t sound like a great idea at all.

If you have reasonably good cars, stick to them. Don’t see why would want to spend many tens of thousands to buy mediocre aging economy cars…

Toyota never had DCTs, but frankly I also am avoiding those in general.

Why?

Do they ALL need new vehicles, in this awful used car market?

Eventually I'll replace them all with Toyota's as they fail.  Most of mine have 150K or more I do take care of them.  Replacing them is a long term goal.  Not next week.  The reason I am looking for one now, is my daily driver was totaled by a teenager on his phone and I have a good settlement from his ins co.  Thanks for the advice I was unaware that Toyota does not use dual clutch trannys.
