My name is Manuel. I lived in Florida. I bought a RAV4 2017 limited FWD (67 k miles now) automatic in March 2017. All the services were conducted at the same dealer. After my Service of the 65K miles. The dealer informed me a couple of weeks ago that I had an leak and the timing chain seal cover had to be replaced for $2k. I thought that this is a clear design problem from Toyota, but they said that the warranty was expired after 60 months... I cannot believe that response. I thought that Toyota quality is going down.
Please let me know your thoughts.
If a dealer's lips are moving; they are lying. Their job is to separate you from your money. As already mentioned, bring the Rav4 to an independent shop/garage and put it on a lift and verify it, and show you either way (if not leaking or leaking, and from where).

Hi Manuel, what are you doing driving an auto?!

Ask them to show you the leak. Then take photos of the leak and post them here.
Is the vehicle losing engine oil between oil changes? Is the oil leak dripping onto the ground?
I took my RAV4 to an independent guy..... He could not find the leak. I will keep checking the area, just in case. Thanks for the valuable feedback.
Thanks for the update!!!

Take it to an independent mechanic to verify. I wouldn’t trust the dealer if they told me what time of the day it was.
See the leak with your own eyes.

See for your self, and if there's such an issue go to a normal mechanic - it should be way cheaper.
clear design problem from Toyota, Toyota quality
Well, considering what kinds of issues others cars develop at low millages - I'd consider a leak nothing.
It's all relative, just look what's going on with others

But yeah, overall car quality nowadays is low.
