Hey scotty/other users,
I have a 2013 Scion tC with the U760E 6-speed auto. I currently have 77k miles and got into a debate on r/SciontC on when/whether to change the fluid on the transmissions. No one was of help saying I was a fool for wanting to change it. Their logic was the sealed, life-long fluid doesn’t degrade. Similar ideas were said about coolant as well.
My main question is can i drain cold and add cold because I know there is a specific temp to check at, but apart from that, can work be done while it is cold.
If anyone wants to see the thread on Reddit, I am the OP
Reddit is cancer
There's no such thing as lifetime fluid that doesn't degrade, that's all BS. look at the picture in post #8, and those 2 photos are less than 40k miles from a 2017 & 2016 Camry.
All fluids that are lubricating moving parts degrade over time and use. Their "logic" is bunk.
The U760E is a flawed transmission. Not sure changing fluid more often can save it, but I definitely wouldn't neglect any maintenance.
You need to follow the a procedure, with specific temperature, to change the fluid.
