Toyota Tacoma Whistling Noise

Hello Scotty,

Greetings from Connecticut! I own a 2010 Toyota Tacoma, manual shift 5 speed with 153,000 miles on the odometer. The engine is a 2.7 liter 4 cylinder. When the truck is in gear, it starts to make a whistling noise at approx. 1500 to 2000 RPM and gets louder with higher RPMS as I'm going down the road. If I push in the clutch pedal and disengage the transmission, the whistling noise seems to go away no matter what speed I'm going. The noise seems to quiet down a little after 20 min or so of driving but is still noticeable enough to be concerning. What could it be?

Can you make a YouTube video of the noise & post the link here?

it could be a lot of things, but it sounds like it's in your transmission or driveline. Maybe a bearing or something.

Could be a couple of things. Hope this helps you isolate what it might be.

Definitely sounds like the throw out bearing is shot.  Time for a new clutch kit.

Yeah.....pilot bearing or throw out bearing, either way might as well do the clutch kit while it's all apart.
