Tranny oil temp light turns on during uphill drives on highway

Hi Scotty. Nobody seems to be able to help me with this one and I trust you so here goes. I have a 2013 Jeep Compass. 4WD with the auto stick. Has a CVT transmission. Recently during a long road trip out of state I had a near miss with a multicar pile up. Had to brake hard to avoid a collision.  Stood her on her nose basically. Avoided it and continued down the highway. About five miles later the transmission oil temp warning light came on. Never had any dash lights come on ever and no problems ever.  Pulled over and let it cool. Was in the middle of nowhere so I had to continue. Was fine til I was on an extended upgrade. This happened several more times and I immediately stopped to allow complete cooling for 30 minutes or more. Even slept overnight at a truck stop to allow it to totally cool. Only happened one more time after that again on an upgrade. Made it back home to Washington and now I only drive in town and it hasn’t happened again. I’m worried cuz nobody can tell me what happened and it has that damn crap CVT. Any thoughts?  I bought it in 2018 at 72k and it’s been the best car I’ve ever had. No problems at all. She’s at 111352 currently and I’m gonna have a tranny service done next week because I never got any service records for her when I bought her and I only changed the tyranny fluid once so far in April. Sure hope you can help with this one. Even took her to a rebuild shop that’s tops here in Yakima and they put her through the paces with the live data on trying to find what is tripping that temp sensor. They found nothing. Sorry for the novel but I wanted to give as accurate a description as I could. Sure hope you can help 🤔

Seems to be a common issue with your car haha. I have heard of jeep dealerships just saying: "it's normal and just wait for it to cool down" what a load of bs. Since you are taking it in for service from what I know I think it is just the way it is, from minor to major it would be along the lines of overheating due to incline (more work on the cvt) to belt slippage. You would have to see when the fluids are replaced. Some people have put in aftermarket reservoirs and coolers and it seemingly solves all the issues with the temp sensor. Best of luck.

Thanks!! Any suggestions as to which reservoir cooler I should get?

Not a jeep guy so I honestly couldn't tell ya, you could probably Google the jeep forums to find what other people recommend. Best of luck.
