Should I change a tyre with Tyre bulge?

Hi Scotty,

Recently purchased a Santafe 2013 with 143000 KM from a friend 2.4 4 cyl 4wd. 2 tyres on the back are new as described by my friend. They are runway tires. However, one of them in the back has a slow leak (not visible but within 6 days the pressure goes from 32 to 18 psi) and a small bulge bubble on the tire wall. Is it something I should worry about and change the tire or is it a puncture. Where should the best tires be. Front or back.

Once a tyre develops a bulge = time for a new tyre.

If the tyre is indeed new, try pushing for a warranty replacement.

If the other 2 tyres in the front are from the factory (8yrs old), they’re due for replacement too.

Also, since your vehicle is AWD, you may want to check your owner’s manual and have a browse through this -

I totally agree with @ InThrustWeTrust

I should also add this that tire bulge is very dangerous and it may blow up and if it happens on the highway, you may end up in a serious damage to your car (or others), so take it seriously and change it right away.

I will change the problematic tyre along with another one in pairs. A lot of Forums say that Santafe 2013 is more like part time AWD so it doesnt use the back tires unless it has a loss of traction.
