Thoughts on used car lots?
Car lots are a good places to buy cars. Sometimes you have to go to one if you're looking for a particular vehicle.
Just don't be chump. You HAVE to know the value of the cars you're looking at. And unfortunately, you have to play their game. The have this rehearsed song and dance routine they do, where they bring you into the office and work on you. They pretend to talk to the manager and stuff like that. It's actually pretty entertaining to watch, but it can take a long time sometimes. But usually you can make a decent deal. And I would say that it's safer buy, than meeting some stranger from Craigslist who you may never see again.
Avoid "Buy Here/Pay Here" lots. For the most part those are bottom feeders. They buy junky cars at auction, get them passably running, and sell them at inflated prices with astronomical interest rates to people with bad credit. (Usually the down payment will be more than the vehicle's value so there's no danger to the dealer of financial loss.) When the mark falls behind in payments the car is repo'd and the process is repeated with some other poor soul.

yeah just like any "bad credit" place. Payday loan etc.
Then there are the "title loan" outfits that deal in what are essentially payday loans but you lose your car as part of the deal when you get caught in the debt spiral. Lots of sharks out there.
If you are careful and do your research, you can get a much better deal than at the larger dealerships. Small lots do not have the overhead of larger dealers, so they usually can work with you more on the price.
Just make sure you research the car you want and have it checked out by a mechanic before you buy.
Used car lots can be ok if you find the deals on the internet. If you walk in to there and just happen to see a nice car, odds are it is very very overpriced.
This is coming from your extensive experience of going to car lots and buying cars right.
This is coming from the fact that you pass by a car lot oh look nice car, and it is overpriced compared to if you were to look online in a specific radius and find a good deal.
Of course they are because car lot sticker prices have nothing to do with reality. You need to slow your roll a bit on giving advice to people.
That is literally the point I am trying to get across. I'm just saying that you will most likely end up paying a lot more then it is worth. Why are you acting as though I am ignorant and making this stuff up?

This is what you said and I am on the same lines as that.
Let me be 100% clear. Slow your roll. This is not a discussion.
Ok thanks for the moderation Joe have a nice day the discussion that does not exist has ended lol.
Used car lots are all sizzle and no steak. Just buy your next car from an honest private seller. The internet is just one source of private seller used cars. Just use your common sense and always have your own trusted mechanic check out the car BEFORE you buy.
Of course, some used car lots have some creative marketing:
Used car lots generally try to sell their cars for at least three times what they paid for them. Knowing this should allow you to walk off the lot laughing hysterically.
I don't really care what they paid. I care about about what I'm buying and for how much.
