My wife and I are looking to buy a van for traveling. I just want to know what the best road worthy van is out there to get the most bang for my buck?
Clarification: what are your requirements? Any dirt road driving (how severe)? Used? New? Budget?
@mountainmanjoe territory
Hey DayWalker, thaks for the question. No dirt, just open road. used would be fine. mostly looking for a bran answer atm that has the best maintenance record. need a vehicle that i can stand up in (5' 8"). to sleep in and be on road for weeks at a time
For a nice full-size van in my opinion you want a nice Econoline without any rust on it.
Those Ford Super Duty vans just keep plugging. You can't kill them, especially with the 7.3 or the 6.7.
The Savannas are pretty good too, and are still being made. However, I can't comment on long term Savanna ownership. Only just got one for the company. I do imagine however that they will be pretty reliable.
If you're talking minivans, get a Sienna.
You can't beat the Toyota sienna Vans they can run forever but they're not cheap.
My apologies on the vagueness of my question. were looking for some larger in the cargo van size range to be able to stand up in and sleep in. want to be able to spend weeks on the road traveling back and forth across the country

It depends what kind of travelling.
There is a reddit group of enthousiasts who post their vans. You can browse there and see if anything inspires you. Just avoid talking to them. Reddit users tend to be very anti-social.

Loll - “Reddit users tend to be very anti-social”
Lolll this holds true for a LOT of keyboard warriors on the internet..
Definitely. And Reddit is their Mecca.
Youtube is chock full of videos of people living part or full time in vans and RVs, ranging from $1000 home-builts to six figure mansions. They show the interiors and discuss the advantages and disadvantages of everything from solar panels to grey-water systems. Watch a couple dozen of those to get an idea of what would work for you. Then RENT one like that for a few days to see if it works for you before you make a big commitment.
get a full sized conversion van.
you won't be sorry
you want fuel milage or comfort?
Thank you everyone for your responses. I see now my question was a little vague. we want to do more that a weekend jaunt. thinking more like spending 2 weeks or even months on the road. want a, mechanically reliable, vehicle to live out of. A cargo van may work well as long as I can stand up in it. used vehicle would be fine. will NOT be used for off road :). looking forward to more responses
