I want to buy a used pick up truck. It has to be crew cab and 4x4. I'm not a brand loyalist. My budget is $30,000. Any suggestions??
Honda Ridgeline, best all around truck on the market today
I have first hand experience with 2 brands NOT to buy. Chevy and Dodge Ram I would stay away from.
What year RAM did you have? I had a 2014 Laramie Longhorn 5.7 that we loved. Never had a problem.
My brother-in-law gets a new Silverado every 3 years and his last few have all had electronic hiccups. I’ve never owned a Dodge Ram, but have other Chrysler (Jeep) vehicles in the recent past and was not too happy with the unreliability. I’m glad to hear your 5.7 Ram is running great
What do you plan to use it for? Heavy work as a contractor or homeowner use?
It will be for homeowner use.
My bro has a Silverado that he's happy with , aside from the AFM which should be disabled. You should be able to get a 2018 or around there for $30k.
I appreciate the videos, but I've seen those already. I'm wanting some real life advice form people on the forums.
you got it.

Personally I'd go with a 2016 Ford (13th generation and same as new ones today. This gen started in 2015 and still same today). Don't get the eco engine though and assuming 1/2 ton (F150). And you should find it a lot cheaper than what you have budgeted. Mech checked and lowest miles you can find with options you like.

I've already seen all those videos. Like I already said, I'm wanting real world knowledge from everyday people about their personal experiences.
I had a 2016 Tacoma TRD crew cab and a 2018 Tacoma 2018 SR5 crew cab both 4x4. Absolutely loved both - my real regret is not buying the 2016 out instead I traded in for the sr5. If it were me, thats what Id go with - great blend of economy gas mileage and utility kills it in snow can go anywhere tows if needed and they look great all while holding exceptional resale value and mine were virtually maintenance free. You could easily buy a slightly used for that price maybe private party lease transfer or fresh off lease, I would think. For example, the lease pay off when I turned in the TRD off road was around 30,000 and the payoff for my current Tacoma is 27,000 while the NADA clean retail price is 31,000 (70,000 miles) but I am selling it private sale for 27,000 to get out of the lease.
Great success with gm trucks. Stay away from the 8 speed trans. No dip stick and many problems. 5.3 and 6 speed combo is excellent. Leased a 14 and 17 double cab. In may I picked up my dream truck. 2015 Sierra slt. Love the heated steering wheel and seats. Paid under 20k with 110k on it. Still runs and drives like a new truck. Z71 slt 4X4.
The toyota tundra is definetly the best used half ton truck because they last forever and run really smoothly and I have heard that 2 of them actually reached a million miles and were still running strong. You could probably get a Tundra sr5 crew cab 2018 with 50,000 miles for like $30,000.
You'll get different opinion on here, for sure. I owned a 2014 RAM Laramie Longhorn 5.7 V8 and never had a problem with it. My wife and I loved it. Just traded it in for a minivan when she got pregnant. My experience with RAM 1500 is great. Not everyone will agree, but I enjoyed ours.
The V8 Fords from 2015 onwards were pretty good. So are the Tacoma and Tundra. Stay away from Chevy and RAM.
