What could cause slow draining oil

The last few oil changes, I have noticed two things.  Although my oil capacity is 5.1 qts, the dipstick reads full at 4.8 qts, when it didn't use to.  Also, it now takes a long time for all the oil in my Subaru to drain back to be measured by the oil stick in my 2.5i 2014 subaru outback 144K mi.  I check it at 1 minute, 30 minutes and the next day.  Almost 1/3 – 1/2 a quart rise on the dip stick, when it sits overnight. That makes be think that maybe not all the oil is getting out during an oil change.  I see no water in the oil.  Looks fresh. 0-20 Mobile 1 changed every 5000 mi.

What might be going on?  Would the 505CRO product from ATS help that?

To check the oil level, make sure your car is parked on a flat surface, warm up the car and then turn it off, wait a minute or so and then heck the oil level using the dipstick.

About the slow drain, how does the oil look like when you change it? If it is not all black and sludgy, I would not worry about it. Oil viscosity increases when it is cold, so you don't expect to have same flow when the engine is cold.

When I check the level it is with the engine warm but off 15 minutes so it shouldn't be from viscosity and this is a pretty thin oil. The oil looks like it's been in service just looking at the dipstick. I don't do my own oil changes. I have had fouling of one plug after 80 k miles. I guess I was wondering if carbon buildup could obstruct the oil passageways.

If your oil passages were clogged up, you would see at least some gunks inside the oil. Can you explain how you drained the oil?

I have had the shop drain the oil in the past, so I only see the oil on the dip-stick normally. I guess I change my own oil this next time.

Scotty tested the 505CRF injection cleaner that came with 505CRO engine cleaner (oil side). He seemed very excited and seemed like he was going to test the oil cleaner. Did he? Is there a Video?

Could the oil rise be from the oil draining out of the oil filter when it isn’t suppose to? One other symptom that might go with that is a much louder engine noise when stating up after being idle 6+ hrs

If you check the oil level using the correct procedure, the oil level should be the same. About the engine noise at start up, it can be somewhat normal, depends on how loid it is. You can make a video and share the link here.

I have a 2014 2.5i Outback 144 mi and the last few oil changes 5 qts of oil exceeds the marks on the dip stick (capacity 5.1 qts).  I’ve also noticed a large variation in volume when I measure the oil level 5-10 minutes after shutting off the engine and the next day --between 1/3 – 2/3 of a quart drainage.  Oil is 0-20 wt, Mobil 1, chgd every 5000 mi and clean.  No water as far as I can tell and it acts the same day after day.

What might be going on?  Would engine cleaning with something like the 505CFO product by ATS?
