How do I prevent my Jeep from burning so much oil

Hi! I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee with a 4.7 v8. It has about 209,000 and ever since i bought it a few months ago it burns a heck of a lot of oil. I changed the oil when i bought it and just been topping the oil off since it burns so much. I was wondering which oil additive i should use to prevent it from burning so much oil? Thanks!

18 years old with over 200K miles - no additive will fix a worn-out engine. All you can really do is maybe install a new PCV valve and see if that helps.

Any additive will only help temporarily.  Your piston rings are just worn out.

Apparently, that 4.7 wasn't maintained well.  Had a 2001 Grand Cherokee (WJ) with the same motor.  337,596 miles on the odometer at time of sale and hardly burned a drip of oil.  I used full synthetic oil and changed every 3,000 miles religiously.  Never had a problem with that motor except for leaky valve cover gaskets and a leaky oil pan gasket.  That, of course, will happen with any engine given enough time.
