Does anyone have any cautions or rave reviews when looking at Alfa Romeo? They have made a big splash returning to the forefront of the luxury market and I'm obsessed with the styling of the Giulia Quadrifoglio. This is the one I'm thinking about: https://heyauto.com/vehicle/British%20Columbia/Richmond/lp-auto/F531300 Any tips?

TIA!

I would not buy an Alfa. They are notorious for breaking and being expensive to fix when they do. Plus the resale is terrible.

They are very stylish and fun vehicles to drive , but you only want to own under a lease!  That being said, even under a lease/warranty, you have a high potential of things breaking down. Also, service centers are very few and far between and you might be waiting a while for some of the parts to come in to fix problems - there’s just not that many of them on the road.

I remember a long time ago a nice lady wanted to buy a Alfa Romeo Spider and wanted to sell her Honda Civic to help fiancé the purchase. I advised to either buy a Mazda MX5 or keep the Honda Civic for a daily driver. I was working at a dealership at the time and she left in a “Karen” sort of way. Well three months later she came back to car lot and she wanted trade in the Alfa for another boring Asian car. We sure low balled her on her Alfa.

It can be good for mechanics who are willing to work on it because of complexity of repairs. In my area mechanics I talked to, hate those cars.

Alfa Romeo is owned by Fiat (now its part of Stellantis) and they have just a tiny bit better quality than Fiat, but still garbage (is what Scotty says). Think of it like a more luxurious Fiat. If we get into technicalities, it is an "Italian premium car manufacturer and a subsidiary of Stellantis."

Why don't you lease one?

Ok so being in touch with Alfas back then in Europe I can say that they were famous for being italian police cars. Now days italian law forces have a mixed fleet. But back to our topic, since early '90 with the Alfa 75 ( the last real Alfa with rear wheel drive De Dion bridge) nowdays one are just Fiat. Beside Italy Alfas dont have any good reputation anywhere else. USA included. Ciao !
