What make an automatic transmission disengage when cold?

Hi Scotty. I have a 2001 Acura TL with 250K miles on the recalled/replaced transmission. I've had ATF flush service twice, 100K and 200K transmission miles. It recently started disengaging in first gear, but only in cold weather. It engages initially at start-up and gets me on the road for a couple blocks to my first stop sign where it disengages as the car stops. It will re-engage when I shift to a lower gear then it works fine for the rest of the drive. Is there a quick fix for this? I recently did a fluid and filter change (myself) after following you on YouTube, but it didn't help much. What's your advice?

Well, it's just starting to break down when it's cold when it's cold. The metal is somewhat smaller as it heats up it expands and so there's where and that's why it's got a problem. There's really nothing you can do. I mean you can drive some automatic transmission slip stop ahead of, but generally it just means that they're wearing inside

Thanks a lot for commenting, Scotty. I'll try the Lucas Stop Slip on my next ATF change.  I really like your YouTube content. It is very informative as well as hilarious. Kudos to your camara man and video editor!
