What Motor Oil to Use in A 2000 Toyota Camry

Hi, I recently bought a 2000 Toyota Camry with a 2.2-liter 4-cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission. It has 146,000 miles and takes 5w-30. And the owner before used synthetic oil in it. When I do the next oil change, I was wondering if I could use high mileage synthetic oil in it to give it the best treatment. Is that a bad idea? What oil should I put in this car if I want it to last a long time and what is most importantly the best and safest option?

The answer is exactly the same, every single time.

for thousandth time on this board ....

Anything that meets the specifications in the owner's manual is fine.

Don't waste your money on "fancier" oils

Should I use original motor oil and oil filters from Toyota? Or does it not matter either?

Once again... ANYTHING that meets the oil specifications in the owner's manual is fine.
Toyota doesn't make the oil. It's the same as the other stuff on the shelves but with a different label.
Good filters are Wix, Purolator, NAPA, etc.

If you enjoy wasting your money on Toyota brand filters and oil, go ahead.

The oil brand doesn't make any difference and as long as it meets the requirements it's fine to use. If synthetic then buy Kirkland Signature from Costco; great price.

For the oil filter I actually use Toyota oil filter just because the dealership near me puts them on sale where if you buy 3 or more you get a discount on it. Using this it's always turned out cheaper than even buying from Autozone or places like that.
