Should I buy a 19-year-old Lexus that sat for 3 years?

A client of mine asked me if I would be interested in purchasing their 2005 Lexus ES330 for $2000. It has just 33000 miles and has been sitting for 3 years because the owner can't drive anymore. Interior and exterior look perfect (minor paint oxidation). I'm not a car mechanic so I need to know if this is something worth pursuing and if I should buy it what do I need to do to get a vehicle running that has been sitting for that length of time? I appreciate any help and guidance!

It's quite old but the price is low. After sitting that long the battery is probably shot. The gas is going to be bad and tires may be dry-rotted. You'd want to change all the fluids and be prepared to replace rubber parts. If the timing belt has not been replaced in the last 10 years that would need to be replaced along with the water pump.

Really you would need to get a good mechanic to evaluate the car to determine its true condition. The low mileage is suspect on a car that age and should be verified. Also age takes its toll even with low miles and the car is going to need at least minor repairs to keep going over time.
