Wheel noise

Hi Scotty,

I own a 2019 Subaru Crosstrek, automatic, 38k millage. Starting about 3 months ago, I have noticed a grinding noise, almost like pencil grinding, coming from the front right wheel direction only when I accelerate from ~40 to 60 miles/h, sometimes and not every time. The noise just disappears if I immediate step off from the gas. The noise is really faint, so the techs from dealership in two separate visits said they could not reproduce the noise for a fix. A test drive with them was not able to reproduce the noise constantly so they suggest to let it sit until the noise is louder. Now, the noise is actually getting fainter and fainter, but definitely it is there sometimes when I accelerate. What would you recommend? Thank you !

Noises like that more pronounced on acceleration is most commonly a heat shield on the exhaust being loose. I would start with that

I can only think of 3 reasons that noise is appearing, do you live in an area with snow?

1) My experience with a similar issue was a problem with the "Brake Pad Sensor? a piece of metal that scrapes the rotor or drum when the brake pads are wearing down...

2) If you live in an area with plenty of snow and ice, Llke I do In Maine Ice can get packed into the wheel, wheel wells,  and even the brakes.

Apparently, there is a modification that can be made on the calipers of your brakes/ More Info here:

Could also be a bearing that is going out, as well.
