Hello,
So I recently used my BlueDriver tool because the check airbag dashboard light came on and but went off after I drove the car for around 20 miles. The airbag light on the dashboard comes out every so often (like a couple of months). When I used the BlueDriver tool It showed the following three codes:
17: rear left tire low air pressure
1 Supplemental Restraint System Code
11-41: Open or High Resistance in Driver Airbag Second Module
1 Immobilizer Module Code
B1905: Lost Communication with MICU/DR Door ECU
For the first code I checked the tire pressure and it was fine. I cleared it and waited like two minutes after which I re-plugged the blue river tool and the code did not show up. Instead, a new code showed up in its place
1 Antilock Braking System Code
61-01 Power Source Failure for ECU (low voltage)
After some research I found that there was a safety recall for the airbag of this vehicle and took it to the dealership only for them to tell me that the safety recall repair had already been done by one of the previous owners. For the immobilizer module code, I am not surprised because about over two weeks ago I clicked the lock button on my car key and did not here a response from the vehicle. I didn't here the beep go off nor did I here the car lock. I had to lock the car manually. It is the only time it has happened. Also, I checked the voltage of the battery and found it to be 12.6V.
So as of now the three codes that show up on the BlueDriver tool are:
1 Antilock Braking System Code
61-01 Power Source Failure for ECU (low voltage)
1 Supplemental Restraint System Code
11-41: Open or High Resistance in Driver Airbag Second Module
1 Immobilizer Module Code
B1905: Lost Communication with MICU/DR Door ECU
My questions are the following:
Should I have the airbag checked out by a mechanic? Because the check airbag light comes on every couple of months should I erase the code and treat it as an intermittent failure? For the other two codes, should I also do the same since the car runs fine and I have not encounter problems in the areas specified by the codes? What do you recommend my next course of action be?
thank you.
I would recommend clearing the codes and actually having the battery tested. Drivers airbag module is most commonly a spiral cable or the bag itself but the other codes could easily be voltage related. It may read 12.6 sitting especially after it has ran but it doesn’t mean it’ll load test good and if it dips down usually under 12v you can get a lot of communication codes triggered
thank you for response. I will do what you recommend and update you after.
@R4nier So I had a Honda technician take a look at the battery and he said that the battery is good. The following are the stats:
Voltage: 12.46v
Measured: 333 CCA
Rated: 340 CCA
Temperature: 107 degrees
I went home and removed the codes. After about three hours after clear the codes and driving 20 miles I used the BlueDriver tool and the only code that came up was:
1 Antilock Braking System Code
61 - 01 Power Source Failure for ECU (Low Voltage)
What do you advise my next steps should be?
thanks
Only thing left would be to dive into electrical diagnostic. See what the freeze frame data shows for when it triggered to isolate what causes it and go from there
