Where could my coolant be going?

I have to periodically refill the coolant in my car, I have gotten a check engine light a few times but it always goes away after I fill it back up. I have taken it to several shops to get it looked at with nothing found. The last place pressure tested it and could find no leaks. I'm not having any engine issues (yet) so I'm guessing it isnt in there, but I have no clue where else it could be going. Figure I might just have to live with it but would like to know if anyone else has ran into this before. Thanks!

If it’s indeed leaking someplace, you can use UV dye to track where it’s leaking (assuming the location is visible to the naked eye).  You can easily do this yourself.  Scotty has a video.  Pray it is leaking and not burning internally (due to blown head gasket).

.

Chuck posted a video of how to find coolant leak.  Scotty also has a video on how to tell if head gasket is blown.

I saw from Chucks video that a UV dye kit seems to be the best option for me right now, so I'll pick one up later today. But if that doesn't go anywhere then I'll look into it maybe being the head gasket. Thanks for your input

Have you tried replacing the radiator cap with an OEM one?

I haven't tried that yet, would be a nice simple fix though so I'll give it a try. Thanks for the idea

What are the codes associated with the check engine light?

If the coolant is not leaking somewhere then it's burning in the engine. There are no other choices.

Since it went away after I filled it back up I did not get a chance to check the code, but will if it comes back. I'll pick up a UV dye kit like the video says and go from there, thanks for your input

How often is periodically?

Did you check all hoses for signs of coolant residue? Sometimes the leak is small and it only happens when you're driving the vehicle.

I add a little every other day to make sure it doesn't run out, I'll try to get some better measurements, I can't find the leak from what I've looked at but I'm going to pick up a UV dye kit later today and hopefully I'll spot something
