Hello scotty, I got a used 2017 rav4 limited with 24k miles on it a few months ago and the tires always seem to be leaking gotta fill them up every few days or so. They are all Bridgestone tires and when I purchased at the time from dealership I didn't realize they were starting to crack a little on the sidewalls of the tire. I plugged a hole in one of the tire because it had a nail in it but now the other back tire is also leaking also my tires always slip in the rain no matter if I accelerate normally or slowly so I think it's time to replace them. What kind of tire do you recommend for quiet road noise and comfort and where to purchase for the best price? Times are hard right now and money is tight but tires are a necessity. I live in florida
One normal brand like Cooper works perfectly fine just look at the date by law they have to tell you the date the tire was manufactured and don't buy an old one
go to walmart and get the douglas brand. not expensive and made in the U S A
Douglas tires are made by Goodyear. Most are made in USA though I do have a set on one of my cars that is made in Brazil. Still better than China-made tires.
I prefer anything by Michelin from Discount Tire.
I usually get whatever is on sale at Costco. That could be Michelin, Bridgestone, or other major brands.
Get them somewhere local. Research what they provide with the tires. Good dealers will give you:
- good warranty
- road hazard guarantee (prorated puncture refund based on tread wear)
- freebies, like mounting+balancing, air top-ups, rotation, etc.
Walmart, Costco, etc are pretty good for this.
I live in South Georgia, and I wanted something that was really good in all conditions, including rain, not to mention snow.
I got the nokian WR G4 on my prius that are considered all weather tires. They rode great, great in nasty wet conditions, quiet, and I really liked them. They also helped with the gas mileage a bit.
I have been in a rental car in california that had junky tires that slipped in the slightest bit of moisture, that was not fun at all. I make sure to get tires that hug the road for any car I own now. They were not overly expensive when I got them a few years ago, but it may be higher now, depending on your size.
Nokian tires are awesome. Put a set on the wife's Saturn. Agree they ride and handle really well in the wet or dry. They are known for their winter tires (they are based in Finland), but make fantastic all-weather tires too.
Look at Vredestein tires. Outstanding bang for the buck. You can order them off Tire Rack if you can’t find them local. Put them on my daughters Crosstrek and they did great in all weather.
