I’m looking for my first car to own, and I’m looking at three different cars right now. I wanted to know which of these will give me most value for what I pay for. The first is a mustang foxbody 5.0, the second is a Toyota MR2(although I can only seem to find ones from the year 2000 onward), and the Nissan 300zx. I want to know which one is the best reliability wise, and what is a reasonable price for each car. Thank you
I would go with the Mr2 or the fox body, but you want to make sure a mechanic checks it out because they could have been driven aggressively and the engine or transmission could be worn.
I agree either the stang or mr2. The fox body mustang wasn’t Ford’s best effort but parts are cheap and they are easy to work on. MR2 parts are going to be harder to find but were high quality to begin with. The Z car is the worst of both - low quality, sparse parts - and likely to have been beaten to death by former owner; I wouldn’t get one unless that is your absolute dream car.
I wanted to know if the spyder mr2s are any good because they’re a lot more common than the older ones and the older ones are a lot harder to find
The best buy is the one you like the best. Value is a gamble so when you lose be sure you have ownership of something you like and the rest of the world be damned. The real question is "which car do you like the best?".
As for "how much" will it cost? That question is "how much can you spend?". Remember that the purchase price is just the beginning. You must repair and improve until the day you try to regain your investment.
The best restored car is the one that has the most love put into it. The disappointment is that the value of love is never fully repaid. To make a financial gamble on one car will most likely end in disappointment.
