I have a 1988 ford bronco 2 with the 2.9 cologne electronic fuel injected and 4wd. I was driving downtown and she just all the sudden stop accelerating it slowly de accelerated and it made no sounds no nothing when I pressed on gas I was able to start it back up and ride it back to my house 17 minutes outside of town. She is having a transmission problem I feel like because she bucks going into drive and seems like it wants to hold to the gear that it’s in shifting up because when it shifts it like bucks as well as the rpm’s doesn’t come back down going past 55 they keep raising the faster I got past 55 and it’s at 3000 rpm’s at this point so I don’t like to drive her past 55-60 mph she’ll like accelerate and I can feel it like not wanna shift and then she shifts I had someone say this might be something to with the overdrive? I’m not sure, but I’m not sure if this problem is any sort of way related to it just stopping. When it happened I could cruise until she got to a point she wouldn’t go anymore and it kinda just shut off on me lost power steering I noticed. I have replaced the following: tps sensor, map sensor, 2 fuel pumps, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, tfi module, new battery and terminals, and a new starter
I’m getting codes 11 in KOEO and Im getting codes 12, 13, 73 in KOER….tps? I had just recently replaced it so maybe a bad ground somewhere?
Both 12 and 13 have something to do with the idle air control valve which I had recently replaced and it did nothing did not drop the rpm’s down at all the wires look fine and 73 has something to do with the tps which I also had just recently replaced any ideas what this might be
could be many things on a 34yo vehicle... wiring, fuses, computer ...
The computer looks almost brand new and fuses all look in good condition I mean wiring maybe but I honestly doubt it all the wires are pretty damn clean do you think that those codes are older and the system never got rid of em because all the codes popping up I’ve changed the parts I mean I can go out and get me a tester to test the new tfi, map, and tps. I read something about the crankshaft position sensor going out and a vehicle just kinda stops accelerating I mean this thing made no sound it simply wouldn’t go so it can’t be a fuel problem I had bad fuel pumps and you could just hear it the way she was bogging down it was a fuel related problem this has something to do with the air ratio i feel like
hahah... you can't judge electrical fitness by LOOKING at it.
