| 2008 Kia Sportage dash brake lights issue | 40Relevance | 5 years ago | Jaylee | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty! I just got a 2008 Kia Sportage 2wd, 229,000 miles, automatic- I got a good deal on it but bought it almost sight unseen knowing the person who owned it had done really good maintenance and the price was very right. The body, interior etc are all pristine and well cared for. I was told that some dash lights were on but a mechanic had told the previous owner it was only a $30 sensor that was out that was causing them and not to worry about it. Well, as it turns out ALL the brake associated lights are on-- the ABS, ECH and the red parking brake li ... | |||||

| Kia and Hyundai are the same conglomerate. I own both brands. Kia started expanding a couple of years ago so most dealers are less than 5 years old in my area. Hyundai has been an established brand going on 20 years so the dealers are a little more mature. When I shopped around for a Kia I had to do a lot of on line research because the dealers new nothing about the cars they were selling. Imagine not knowing how many gallons of fuel the tank holds. That was typical of the dealers I visited. Kia's were bargains a couple of years ago but they have raised the ... | |||||

| ... 400 have already burned down in the last couple of years, and one catches fire every 5 days. I'm not sure about your assessment that "a few hundred" are effected, a bit more have already burned down, there's no reason to assume that this rate will be constant if it's age related. Well looking at the sheer complexity on new Toyotas and how not repair friendly they are (try working on new Toyotas and see how it's really not what I'd call "DIY friendly"), As I see it Hyundai-Kia treat the owner better, they don't go taking down repair manuals or lobby agai ... | |||||

| Hey Scotty, My friend's parents in Ontario, Canada recently leased two fully loaded midsize SUVs, one was a 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander (made in Japan and basically a Nissan Rogue underneath it) and the other was a 2021 Kia Sorento (made in the USA in Georgia) and both stickered for around $50 000 CAD. They loved both of them until one and a half months into ownership the Kia started to go haywire and was having so many problems at 6500 km whereas the Outlander had 7300 km was flawless. Both have 2.5 direct injection 4 cylinder engines, but the Kia is turboch ... | |||||

| Hi Scotty Here is a good Kia story of disaster from another proud Kia owner. This guy has a broken steering wheel and transmission in a Kia less than 2 years old. What should he do? If i am to understand him the Kia rep confiscated his transmission. You ever heard of such a thing? ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I got a 2021 Kia Sorento SX Prestige that I purchased in March 2021. This was when I had fixed all my debts and my debt was at 0 and income was high so my DTI ... | |||||

| I bought an electric EV6 lately and I don´t want it anymore. My colleague´s Kia Sportage (a 2020) suffered a transmission failure and a guy which I happen to know from high school posts frequently about his Kia Rio being junk. I am too afraid to keep it, even if it´s brand new. From what I am seeing, Kia has problems. Fortunately, Kia agreed to buy it back from me. | |||||

| I've look at Kia's German website and I'm disappointed - where are all of the MPi and AT powertrains! But in the Czech republic and other countries I found that they still sell good new models.-Where I live the Stonic is 1.4L MPi, and Sportage is 2.0L MPi both with conventional automatic, It seems like they've began seeing US spec GDi garbage in the EU too, which is disapointing. This is definitely an issue and I would not buy a Hyundai or a Kia (or rather almost any car) with GDi.- Most Kias I wouldn't recommend, a lot of them. As an example, of a car ... | |||||

| these engines were recalled several times. They often don't make it past 60k miles. You can try checking your VIN and see if Kia will give you a new engine, but from what I hear they don't treat customers too well. Now we know that Kia knew about the problems and ignored them. Kia also told NHTSA about a recall of more than 618,000 2011-’14 Kia Optima, 2012-’14 Sorento and 2011-’13 Sportage vehicles because the Theta engine bearings wore out too early and caused the engines to seize. | |||||

| I know Hyundai and Kia are the same company. I have noticed though the Kia dealers are a lot harder to deal with. I think it's because Hyundai has been around a while while Kia is a newer brand. The Kia dealers are very pushy and combative while the Hyundai dealers are more professional. Just a gut feeling I have after having experienced both. | |||||

| She's selling you a defective vehicle & it's probably not even the head gasket. There is a lawsuit against Kia for that vehicle because it has a defective engine. 2011–2018 and certain 2019 Kia Optima, 2012–2018 and certain 2019 Kia Sorento, and 2011–2018 and certain 2019 Kia Sportage vehicles suffer from a defect that can cause engine seizure, stalling, engine failure, and engine fire, that engine seizure or stalling can be dangerous if experienced, and that some owners and lessees have been improperly denied repairs under the vehicle’s warranty. | |||||
