| I’d go with the Accord. I love the look of the g35. But if you want less problems in the long run, Accord. I’d be open to personal experiences with the g35. It might be good. | |||||
| Buy a new or used engine? | 32Relevance | 5 years ago | Tim.johnson | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty, LOVE Your YOUTUBE channel. Thank you for sharing your knowledge. I have a 2004 Infiniti g35 6MT Coupe. 186k miles. Owned it for years. High mileage is from traveling to my son’s volleyball games. Engine problems now. Runs fine but I can smell gas on the oil dipstick. Infiniti dealership checked it out and determined ‘cylinder 3 has no compression due to piston ring failure.’’ They’re recommending a new engine assembly. What’s your opinion? Buy a new engine from Infiniti (apparently only one left) or buy a used one from…somewhere reputable? Thanks ... | |||||
| Infiniti G35 - P2A00 - recurring issue after repair | 34Relevance | 2 years ago | rmay0632 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi. I have a 2006 Infiniti g35 base sedan. 157K miles, car runs great. Got a P2A00 code. A repair shop that I trust replaced the upstream O2 sensor twice, second time with a Denso, and still getting the code. shortly after the 2nd sensor was replaced, my Y-pipe from the bank 1 catalytic converter came apart at the cat's flange. I had the y-pipe patched until I get it replaced. Could an exhaust leak after the cat have been related to the P2A00? My mechanic said the voltages were good on the Denso sensor. If not related to the Y-Pipe, what would be the next ... | |||||
| Answer to: 2007 Infiniti G35 S code failure | 34Relevance | 3 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Here are details on that code and diagnostic: I could be something simple or something serious. Worst case if the valve timing is way out of whack one possibility is a loose timing chain skipping teeth which can lead to severe internal engine damage. Hopefully that is not the case, have the simple stuff checked first. (Find a good local independent shop, stay away from dealers and chains like Pep Boys, Midas, Firestone, etc.) Timing chain problems appear to be fairly common on this model: Better have that checked out ASAP. Steam indicates possible coolant leak and/or overheating, which could cause a blown head gasket. That's assuming it's actually steam and not smoke due to an oil leak, which of course would also need to be addressed - if leaking that badly it could cause a fire. Since you use the term "smog check" that maybe indicates you're in California? If in the L.A. area there are some mechanic referrals in the FAQ. | |||||

| Infiniti g35 2008 Check Engine Light P0000 | 34Relevance | 6 years ago | Jogozin | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hey. I recently purchased a used Infiniti g35 2008 with 150k miles on it. The next day I bought it my check engine light came on. I checked the code and it was p0021, p0011, and p0430. The next day I brought it back to the dealer and they took it to their mechanic to get it fixed. He said that he replaced the sensors and updated the computer software. I drove home that day with the light off and when I got home the light was still off. I drove to a park later that day and the Check engine light came back on again. I scanned it for codes again but this time i ... | |||||

| Do you feel comfortable doing the repairs yourself? You could save a ton of money doing so. Spark plugs are dirt cheap, i found ignition coils and valve covers with gaskets for $250 here: Total that's less than $300 in parts. Idk if you're mechanic only will use oem parts or how much he charges for labor. I would consider fixing it yourself. The car is definitely getting old but $300 to keep it running doesn't seem that bad. Just my 2 cents. I have an 03 g35 with 158k I plan to keep running as long as I can. | |||||
| How to fix P1274 in my 2004 G35? | 28Relevance | 4 years ago | Hammluna | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello scotty! I have a 2004 Infiniti g35 with 140,000 miles. It runs good and I drive it daily. The only thing is that when idling the rpm goes up and down very slightly sometimes. It has P1274 and P1283 codes. Both o2 sensors I believe. I have replaced the maf sensor and checked for vacuum leaks. Should I replace the sensors first or replace my exhaust. It has exhaust leaks on it. I plan on replacing the exhaust either way because it's aftermarket but I just want to clear the codes for smog first. Thank you! | |||||
| Answer to: Miata vs FR-S vs G35 vs G37 | 28Relevance | 5 years ago | infinitifxfan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| All of them IMO are great. However, the Miata will probably be the most fun to drive especially when you get a manual and you have the top down. g35 and G37 are good cars (a bit biased being a big fan of a lot of the older Infiniti models), but they will cost you more to maintain and repair as they age, and Scion FR-S is good (even though it's mainly just a rebadged Subaru BR-Z) but I don't think its as enjoyable as the others. So for the best all-rounder, buy the Miata. | |||||

| Greetings Scotty, I have a 1999 Infiniti I30 with 65,000 miles with an automatic transmission. The engine will not fire. It acts as if the fuel pump is bad. I check if there is power going to the pump and there is no power going to the fuel pump. Checked fuses and relays all are working and have power. I did scan it too see if there are any codes and I was able to get a code of p0180 which is a fuel temperature sensor. The fuel temperature sensor looks like it's located in the fuel sending unit. I do have another Infiniti I30 same year, that has a brand ... | |||||
| Answer to: Should I buy this G35 | 28Relevance | 5 years ago | infinitifxfan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Ok, make sure you get that checked out because people who buy those beat the heck out of it, and as they age they can get expensive in repairs. However, if a mechanic says that it's in good shape and it's really got mostly freeway mileage, why not? $3000 for a g35 with 170k highway miles seems appropriate and it has a standard tranny and Nissan/Infiniti makes great standard transmissions, plus the engines are solid. Just realize that don't expect it to be cheap to own when it crosses the 200-250k mile mark as the stuff on the outside starts breaking, but if u plan to use it as a weekend toy yeah they can be a fun one. | |||||
