| 2006 Dodge Dakota - preventative maintenance | 18Relevance | 4 years ago | jdcooke08 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Good afternoon Scotty, I own a 2006 Dodge Dakota SLT with a 3.7 liter engine. It currently has 139,000 miles on it, and it is running well so far. Unfortunately, it's not getting any younger and it's getting more and more miles with it. What kind of preventative maintenance I should perform on it to have it last much longer, and what kind of problems I should be expecting in the future? | |||||

| Hey Scotty, How are you doing today? I hope you are doing well. I was wondering if you could please give me some insight on a problem I'm having with my truck. I have a 2003 Dodge Dakota SXT Automatic V6. When I'm driving it at any speed the truck has these constant hesitations while driving, but when I step on the gas and it shifts into high gear it barely has any hesitations at all. I just can't figure it out. I don't know if it's because the fuel filter is clogged, if it's the injectors not distributing the fuel right, if it's the fuel pump going bad, or ... | |||||

| I own a 2008 Dakota and the tandem axle cargo trailer I tow weighs in at 3,000 lbs. I have a class 3 hitch installed and a brake controller. I have mixed reviews from folks in my area about the potential for damage to the transmission. I don't want to buy a new truck because this truck still runs well (for what it is), and is paid for. For reference: VIN: 1D7HE38K68S514243 Am I going to "wreck" my transmission because of the weight I am towing like some of the people that surround me suggest? Love the channel by the way! | |||||

| I just recently replaced my Dodge Dakota PCM with a used one I bought from eBay. I did not programmed it, I just installed it. Even though it got my truck running, its not running right. The fuel gauge and the AC are acting weird. The fuel gauge is working in reverse, when the truck is low in gas the gauge shows it's full and when it's full it's shows it's on empty with the low fuel line displaying. The AC only blows from the top and sides not from the front of the dashboard. What should I do? Please help!!! God Bless you for everything you do for the workin ... | |||||

| Have a mechanic check it out. Mileage seems a little low, but it could have been an old person's vehicle. I noticed the other day that you still see a lot of Dodge Durangos around from the late 90s. The Durangos from that period are built on the same platform and share at least some of their drivetrain with the Dodge Dakota. They have the notorious Dodge rusted bodywork, but they're still running and driving. | |||||

| Scotty I have a 2005 dodge Dakota st 3.7l v6 automatic 4x4 120000 miles on it. I am just getting ready to finish up in a few days hopefully Installing a new Charcoal canister with leak detection pump plus I cleaned out the fuel tank 22 gallons and installed a new BOSCH 67744 fuel pump assembly. My question is should I fill the tank completely on first fireup? I was wanting to put 11 gallons just in case there is any issues not to heavy to maneuver if I have to take back out. I wanted to make sure that only 11 gallons would not hurt or interfere with anyth ... | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I drive a 1997 Dodge Dakota that has a 318 engine. Almost a year ago I was driving down the road and my truck completely lost power and wouldn't start. So I had to get it towed and the mechanic said my fuel pump went out and I had to pay 800 for it and then about 6 months later it decided to do the same thing again and I was gonna call the dealership again but I didn't want to spend 800 again. So I heard about a local mechanic who does a good job so I called him and before I had it towed he tried to help me figure out if it is something simple I c ... | |||||

| I've owned a 99 Dakota since 2002, its now a woods truck as the body rusted out long ago. The thing still runs like a champ with absolutely NO fluid leaks surprisingly. Its sat for months on end, just starts right up every time with no issues. Its very surprising that the seals/hoses etc are still fine. They must have made them better back then. | |||||

| 1994 dodge Dakota replacing a water pump that has recently been replaced due to a defect. | 18Relevance | 5 years ago | fraydar4523 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| This is a 1994 dodge Dakota 318 v8, automatic transmission, four-wheel-drive 175,000 miles. I have a water pump that I just replaced that is defective there is a wobble in the shaft. So now I think I need to replace that water pump although I do not want to have to drain all of the coolant out of the system and I don't want to disturb anything else if not needed. Is this possible? To clamp the hoses off then replace the water pump, or not? | |||||
