| 2014 Ford Escape, 50,397 miles, automatic, ODB codes: P0741, P1744, P0218. Hi Scotty! The above 2014 Ford Escape runs well. No shudder, no trouble shifting gears, easily shifts intro reverse, no hesitation when accelerating, no problems apparently at all. However, when I am accelerating usually above 50 mph I sometimes get a Transmission Fault Error: Service Now warning. I can dismiss the error and drive normally. I can drive the car all day at lower speeds and receive no warning and no issues with operation. I took the car to the Ford Dealer and they told ... | |||||
| Answer to: 2001 Ford Escape fix blown head gasket or not? | 20Relevance | 5 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| If you can do the work yourself go for it. You didn't say what engine but the head gasket set for a 4-cylinder Escape is less than $100. On the other hand, if you have to pay a mechanic the cost of labor will far exceed the value of a 20-year-old Escape and the money would be better spent on a replacement vehicle. | |||||

| Scotty, I have a 2013 Ford Escape that has 3 power ports and none of them work. I do have 1 usb port in the center console next to a power port, and usb works fine although it charges slowly for cell phones. I have checked all the fuses and they all seem to be in working order with none of them having been blown. Not sure if this is a wiring issue or maybe a bad relay, please help. My car is a 2013 Ford Escape with 30,000 miles, 4 cylinder engine, regular base model vehicle with automatic transmission. Only issue it had was a bad throttle body assembly, t ... | |||||
| Escape hybrid opinions. | 20Relevance | 5 years ago | Redcars124 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| What are your thoughts on a 2012 Ford Escape Hybrid. I know what Scotty says about used hybrids but the 2008-2012 Escape hybrids have been used by taxis for years and have well over 400,000 miles on them on the original engine, transmission and hybrid battery. Is buying a used one with less miles driven by a private owner a smart idea or no? The ones from 2008-2012 seem like well built ones. Thank you! | |||||

| Should I buy Ford Escape 2005-2012 | 20Relevance | 5 years ago | mrblint | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| We used to have a 2005 Ford Escape which was a very good vehicle in winter. It was great on snowy roads and could handle big potholes. The transmission had to be replaced at 65K miles and it had a recurrent problem where the plastic throttle body got stuck and you couldn't accelerate. We traded it in after 12 years. Now I'm wishing I had that Escape back again, but without those issues. Did Ford ever address them? Is there a good year in that 2005-2012 range? | |||||
| Ford escape growling sound from rear | 20Relevance | 5 years ago | mainfor | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 2013 Escape SEL Scotty, my wife's Escape has a growling sound coming from the rear as soon as the car starts moving. I was told the bearings in the rear are making the noise. It has steadily over time gotten a bit noise. Just wondering if it could be in the rear, or could it be the wheel bearings? It is an AWD vehicle. Thanks, Carl | |||||
| 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid | 20Relevance | 5 years ago | username | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid (FWD) 85,000 miles Automatic P1A10 Vehicle gets very poor mileage for a hybrid (21 mpg). I noticed that the engine never goes to EV mode while stoping even when the A/C is off. Car drives good it just seems that the vehicle lost its hybrid capabilities. What could be wrong with this ford Escape. | |||||
| Answer to: Ford transmission shifting issues | 14Relevance | 3 months ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| You check it from underneath. Has the transmission been serviced? At that mileage the fluid should have been changed at least once. Snake oil additives rarely do anything good. Some have reported temporary success with Lucas transmission additive. You're likely to wind up with the same problem. Those vehicles are known for bad transmissions. Note the top problem area by a wide margin: You can also expect engine problems as Ford's EcoBoost engines have a poor reputation for reliability and longevity. You should consider taking your vehicle to a transmission expert for diagnosis. (Not a dealer or chain shop.) If you're lucky the problem may be something repairable without replacing or rebuilding the entire transmission. | |||||
