| 2010 Lincoln Town Car jerks forward/backward when switching to D/R | 27Relevance | 2 years ago | Mizelman | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello, I have a 2010 Lincoln town car with 130k miles on it. The car runs perfect other than one issue that was present since I bought it years ago, and I cannot figure out: Every time when I put the car in drive or in reverse, the car will jerk forward (D) or backward (R) whenever the gear is engaged. Other than this, the transmission works flawlessly. I check the motor mounts and they are good. I did not check or replaces the transmission mount because that is a pain in the butt. I did change the fluid when I got the car with 110k miles on it, and t ... | |||||
| Answer to: Should I buy this 1979 Lincoln Town Car? | 27Relevance | 2 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I hope your intent is that this will be a weekend toy rather than a daily driver. It's way too old to use on a regular basis unless you plan to spend a lot of time wrenching on it yourself. (Most mechanics will not touch a car that old.) You need to have a good mechanic check the car out before purchase, but you may find it difficult to find one that can deal with a 45-year-old Lincoln. | |||||
| 1992 Lincoln Town Car Air Spring Suspension | 26Relevance | 2 years ago | Varwulf | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Greetings. I just picked up a 92 Lincoln town car in remarkably good shape for the year, though it does have some issues I wish to resolve on my own. It has roughly 140K miles on the clock (33K displayed and no longer working, 5 digit readout). I used to own an 89 Continental in high school and a 90 Mark VII in college, and both of these vehicles had their air ride suspension removed before I had purchased them. Everyone always told me they aren't worth the trouble because they are "thousands of dollars" to repair when something goes wrong. I've priced the a ... | |||||

| You want to hop up a Lincoln town car? Well, I own a speed shop. Some thoughts: 1. Do you realize how heavy that car is? 2. It uses a very similar design to the Mustang engine, yes. But as you said, it is built for comfort and does not have the performance internals the Mustang motors do, nor the tuning. 3. How fast are you wanting to go? You say a sleeper, but are you wanting to race the car? Against Mustangs, Camaros, etc.? 4. How deep are your pockets? I'm hoping, like, Grand Canyon deep...... In short, yank the motor, drop a 32V 4.6L Supercha ... | |||||

| 1991 Lincoln Town Car belt squeal persists after repair | 26Relevance | 4 years ago | desky470 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty! I drive a 1991 Lincoln town car with the 4.6 modular V8 that had a seized idler pulley that was causing a nasty accessory belt squeal. I took the tensioner off and replaced the bad pulley with a new one. For a couple days it was quiet but then the belt squeal slowly returned. It's definitely not being caused by that pulley anymore, the new one spins freely and does not vibrate. I'm also not sure why the noise returned gradually instead of continuing to be present as soon as the repair was finished. I have verified that the belt is on correctly an ... | |||||

| I bought my 1996 Lincoln town car a few months ago and did some repairs, the last thing I can't seem to figure out is why my oil pressure light and check engine light come on when I test drove it, as soon as I got to a stop sign the vehicle went into limp mode and the gas pedal refused to work, I had to restart the car but it would not start right away, what could it be? | |||||
| Lincoln town car center console | 26Relevance | 5 years ago | Matt129 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello everyone, I have a 1999 Lincoln town car that does not have a center console. It has what I would have to call a bench seat with individual bucket seats? The drivers seat and the passenger are bucket seats but it also has a tiny separate armrest/seat in between the front seats. If any of y’all have a Panther car you know what I’m talking about lol. My question is, would it be possible to remove that middle part and add in a modern style center console? Would the console from the Mercury marauder be compatible? Thanks for any help you can give me. | |||||

| Here are some things you could look into that may be of help. I'd also recommend asking around in a Lincoln town car forum as there can be lots of info there too. 1. Spray WD-40 or some form of gel lube on all of the door latches and open and slam each door somewhat hard 15-20 times. Sometimes they don't fully latch all the way and in some cases, these boats tend to have sagging doors from general usage as their heavy 2. Some mentioned it could be a bad/worn/caked up hood latch switch that may need replacing/adjusting. You could grab one from a junkyard. ... | |||||

| Wikipedia is a decent source for car model specifications. That was a the first generation of LTC Scroll down to the engine table, and you can see that there was only one engine option in 1985 ... a 5.0L V8 . In 1985 they all had CFI CFI and TBI are the same thing. CFI is Ford's name. TBI is what GM called it. They're both technically "single-point manifold injection" "In Canada, the 302 V8 remained carbureted until 1985." Strange. You'd think they would appreciate fuel injection in the cold North. | |||||

| Hi Scotty (you are a living legend, and I would love to meet with you one day), I have a 2010 Lincoln town car Signature Limited, 195,000km (I live in Vancouver Canada. All the mechanics here are scammers), automatic transmission, no codes. Yesterday I took a look at my rear differential and it looks awful. There is black gunk and crud all over it. Here are some pictures and a video: Video: This differential was serviced 6 months ago (I don't know how it looked like before, as I was not the one who did the service). All ... | |||||
