| They are basically money pits I remember Scotty saying they are basically BMWs and cost lots of money to fix them but "they aren't absolute piles of junk I mean its nothing like Fiat 500 its much better than those haha if you get one cheap enough it could be decent enough because they have horrendous resale value"-Scotty Lots of women like the Mini Cooper forget about get a Toyota/Scion/Lexus find something you like. | |||||

| Mini Cooper - Fuel Filter Question | 36Relevance | 5 years ago | TMoorman84 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| I have a 2014 Mini Cooper S model (R57), 1.6 liter turbocharged engine with 104,000 miles. I was going through some preventative maintenance items and thought about changing the fuel filter. However, the fuel filter is inside the gas tank underneath the rear seats and I don't have the tools or space to do it myself. My local mechanic quoted me between $350-$400 (due to labor involved) to change fuel filter, but he didn't really feel it was necessary to do. Car is not having or displaying any running issues. Fuel trims both short and long are pretty normal be ... | |||||

| Dear Mr. Scotty, i have a 2012 Mini Cooper s with 100k miles on it, i have recently rebuild the engine as it was smoking, after putting it all together the car started up great, but after an hour the car suddenly shut off and the oil light came on, i found out it was a little low on oil so i topped it up, i then tried to start it and it ran very rough on 2 cylinders only for about 5 seconds then shut off, while starting it i was giving it gas, it seems like the gas pedal isnt working either. I tried new spark plugs and coils and same thing, also fuel and pre ... | |||||

| it's funny how right you are. The Mini Cooper is like that crazy, sensational, high maintenance, blonde. - Super fun for a few weeks until you find all the baggage in the trunk - requires constant input of all your money - one day just blows up on you - leaves you broke and stranded | |||||

| Took on a project with this 2007 Mini Cooper s turbocharged. I may have bit off a bit more than I can chew. First: no drain plug. Replaced and filled up with proper oil . Next: No start. Replaced starter (running around in circles ripping my hair out) . Next. No fuel pump engage, replaced left side pump, (hoping someone will just try to burn it up at this point. Next. Changed out the spark plugs, here's where it gets interesting. Are we able to post pictures? I wanna show you the spark plugs. ALL 4 were severely damaged. Replaced them. STILL NO START. pleas ... | |||||

| Well, it depends, if you watched Scotty's latest video of a Mini Countryman, he was pretty impressed with it. If you don't mind the extra maintenance and costs over a normal Toyota or Honda, it could be OK, but they are not gonna last as the original Minis did back in the 20th century and because Mini is owned by BMW the parts can be expensive. Maybe look at a Miata if you wanna have some fun but you want something that looks cute and can run FOREVER with not a lot of maintenance. | |||||

| Save your money. This is a true story and holds true to every Mini I've worked on. As a testament to their build "quality", pop the hood on a Mini. Then, with one hand only, grip the front grille and pull. I guarantee you it comes off in your hand. Maybe don't do that at a dealer as they won't like it, but at least wiggle on it. You'll see how cheaply it is put together. The rest of the car is no better. | |||||

| My mom used to say, "Want some extra excitement, some trouble in your life?… Get yourself a piglet!" It’s true, … getting a perfectly sound Mini is a gamble. Getting a someone else’s troubled Mini it’s a sure bet. Anyway, … check turbo. If oil gets past the seal, … instant smoke screen. | |||||
