| 2003 Buick park avenue A couple of weeks ago,a friends 2003 Buick Park Avenue started losing acceleration power, especially noticeable on slight inclines. Gotten worse. Replaced the MAF (OEM), after trying to clean it. If the MAF sensor is unplugged, the car run fine, so the car appears to run in some default mode. Plugging the MAF back in, the car is back to hesitation/ loss of power. No trouble codes (except when the MAF is unpugged, so the car can be driven). Replaced the PCV. It was sticking. Also oil passed through the to the MAP sensor, so ... | |||||
| Should I buy this 1989 Buick Century sight unseen? | 22Relevance | 4 years ago | ct5000 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello! I was looking to buy this 1989 Buick Century from a Classic Car Dealer located in Atlanta, Georgia. This is my dream car because it is the same type of car my great grandmother used to drive me around in. I want to purchase it because of the condition and the mileage, and it seems to have been kept really clean. I am only skeptical because I do not live close enough to see this car in person, so I would be having it shipped to my home address. Please let me know if this is a bad decision or not. Thank you so much in advance! If the link doesn't work, ... | |||||

| Answer to: 2017 Buick Lacrosse Reliability | 22Relevance | 4 years ago | Dan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| It's just an improved Opel Insignia. At this point that doesn't seem to be a good thing - it's not Aisin's finest. The first one to adopt that transmission were Volvo and Peugeot, Toyota began using only recently. It's not simple, we are talking about a GDi engine, with VVT on both cams, cylinder deactivation, stop-start and more. Typical GM engineering, there's a big market for remanufactured (improved) units because the original one fails. "The original 3.6L GDI engine is susceptible to issues that include: oil consumption, dry start-up, piston scuffing, cylinder bore wear, head gasket failure and leaks, camshaft noise, VVT failure, low oil pressure/knocking, valve guide wear, spun reluctor wheel/timing, fuel leaks, and runability." 125k miles or 10 years - probably without any major issues. But that's not very long term, after that it's bound to have some issues. Are you sure? I was interested in a LaCrosse / Impala but it drove exactly like an Opel Insignia. It's not very sporty, not agile, I personally was disappointed - It really lacks handling and agility. (that being said, I generally don't like cars that have 0 "drama" when driving so your experience may differ) Consider a Mazda6, it's very posh and the naturally aspirated version is solid. Are you sure? I mean the LaCrosse was facelifted pretty much immediately, in 2018 it got styling upgrades, in 2019 a full facelift for the 2020 model year, and then canceled for the US market. It doesn't look bad, but not as harmonic and inviting as competitors. I think the Implata (same car different badge) looked better. | |||||

| Hi Scotty, I have two Buick's that I have transmission questions about. I'm trying to keep these as long as possible. 1999 Buick Regal - 3800 Series II engine, factory supercharged, 183,000 miles There is a low growling sound when accelerating in first and second gear. The noise is not present when revving the engine in park or neutral. The noise also gets quieter (but doesn't completely go away) when the engine is warm and up to temperature. Aside from the noise, the vehicle shifts smooth and is responsive upon acceleration. I'm wondering if the pr ... | |||||
| Answer to: Honest opinion on Buicks | 18Relevance | 4 years ago | infinitifxfan | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Buicks were pretty good cars until the early to mid-2000s when their quality took a nosedive. the last good Buicks were ones with the 3800 V6 engines which can run forever if well taken care of. Nowadays they are popular in China and they are no longer that good, especially the Enclave which will make you wanna pull your hair with electrical, engine, and tranny problems, and the ugly Buick Encore where Car Wizard recently mentioned about failures of the turbocharger. | |||||

| Baby the car if you're going to keep it. Don't drive it hard, if you blow the turbocharger, that's the end of your acceleration, which is not that great as is. Don't be late on oil changes and monitor your coolant levels too. Although the weight class is the same as the Chevy Cruze (which also uses the 1.4L turbo), the Encore is a crossover designed more like a hatchback/wagon, to carry a bunch of stuff, which this engine won't be great at doing. | |||||
