| Hey Scotty, I have a 2003 Lincoln town car with 155k miles that ran great until I stopped at a red light. Then the vehicle had a poor idle experiencing multiple misfires. I used an Innova scan tool and 5 codes came up, P0305 (cylinder 5 misfire detected), P2197 (O2 sensor signal stuck lean bank 2 sensor 1), P0300 (random misfire detected), P2195 (O2 sensor signal stuck lean bank 1 sensor 1), and P0316 (misfire detected on startup first 1000 revolutions). What could the issue be? Thanks! | |||||
| Answer to: Squealing Noise Lincoln Town Car | 26Relevance | 5 years ago | The Real VR | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Yep I agree, change the belt and no more squeal. Good thing to change that thermostat too because of the age. I have owned several panthers, including currently a 2000 town car touring. They are very easy to work on. A good haynes manual and yoytube videos and the panther/lincoln guys on this forum can help too! Thats a good year you purchased. It should have an aluminum coolant passover from your new thermostat on you air intake manifold. The older panthers like my 2000 and older had a fallible plastic coolant passover that was prone to cracking due to heat/cooling cycles weakening the plastic. Change oil regularly and get new coil packs and spark plugs for good measure, fuel filter and check your air intake filter under the giant hood. Enjoy true luxury comfort and still peel rubber really well. | |||||

| I'm going to go see and possibly purchase a 1991 Lincoln town car. It has the 4.6 liter V8 and has had a lot of work done to it. I'm a mechanics apprentice and I can do repairs on it myself if needed. Is this a bad idea? Is there anything I should watch for? Thanks. | |||||

| 1998 Lincoln Town Car air suspension light. | 26Relevance | 6 years ago | peterbuilt89 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| My 1998 Lincoln town car has an intermittent air suspension light. It seems to come on around twenty miles after start up or if I sit for a couple minutes running. Is it time for new bags? I have a receipt from the previous owner showing they were replaced about 4 years ago. If they do need replaced should I replace the bags or convert to traditional springs? | |||||

| Lincoln Town Car Auto Lamp Issues | 26Relevance | 6 years ago | Matt129 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello Scotty and moderators! I have a 1999 Lincoln town car that I inherited from my grandfather. Many years ago, he managed to do something to the wiring of auto lamps system to keep them on all of the time. As he passed on many years ago, I have no way of knowing what he could have done to the wiring. I would like to have them functioning automatically again, so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. | |||||

| RE: Lincoln Town Car Performance Upgrades | 26Relevance | 6 years ago | Matt129 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Thank you for your input, it has been very enlightening. I guess I’ll just slap a sport exhaust on it and pretend it’s fast lol. At least it will sound really cool😁. I’ll just wait and save up for an old beater fox body Mustang to fix up. It will probably be cheaper than trying to speed up my Lincoln. But hey, who knows, maybe someday I’ll be able to afford that kind of upgrade. And then I will have the fastest town car around😁. | |||||
| 07 Lincoln Town Car Transmission Lunge/Surge | 26Relevance | 6 years ago | scrowetc | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| My 2007 Lincoln town car transmission lunges forward with force when taking it out of park and seems to shift rough (no grinding, it's more of a lunging/surging/jolting when shifting too). There's no codes, it has about 200k miles on it, and when I bought it, it appeared to be hugely overfilled with trans fluid. It's the Executive L model with a trans cooler and 14 quarts capacity. I changed the transmission filter and drained the fluid (it had a fair bit of gunk), which seemed to help a little for a couple days. Any help would be greatly appreciated! | |||||
| Lincoln Town Car Cold Start Issues | 26Relevance | 6 years ago | Matt129 | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi Scotty! What would cause a 1999 Lincoln town car with 94000 miles on it to not want to start in the cold? Just today I had to hold down the accelerator to keep it running because it wouldn’t idle. After holding down the pedal for a few minutes trying to warm it up, it thudded, and the engine sped up. I let off the accelerator and it idled normally. Any ideas? Thanks. | |||||
