| Steel Seal | 25Relevance | 5 years ago | Mygoodname | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hello Scotty, I have an 09 Mini Cooper clubman non turbo. I believe I have a headgasket leak. I'm getting white smoke from the tailpipe. It has a funny smell to it. I don't have oil and coolant mixing to where i see it on my dip stick or my oil fill gap. I seen you spoke about Steel Seal in a video. You recommended that the thermostat be removed. However, In my Mini the thermostat is part of the housing. How do I move forward with the process of using the steel seal with this information? | |||||

| 2008 Mini Cooper S Convertible. We were the original owners and it was at the dealer for a part failure every three months consistently during the five years and 60,000 miles we owned it. Some parts were replaced three times and when we sold it the auto transmission was on its last breath before failure as it was slipping out of gear! As a little kid, my parents couldn't afford much in the late 1970s, very early 1980s so we had a Chevy Chevette, Ford Pinto station wagon and a Ford Fairmont station wagon...all equally bad but they were still more reliable t ... | |||||

| I have a 2004 Mini Cooper that is standard and the drivers window keeps getting stuck. I heard this happens to many Mini Coopers but not sure whether I should get a knew motor for it or like put grease on it. I saw a vid of a man knocking the side of the car to pull it down which works strangely. The passenger one works perfectly though. | |||||

| A friend of mine is thinking abut buying a Mini Hybrid. I'm trying to talk her out of it. Am I correct in arguing that the Mini will suck her dry over time? I suggested a Prius if she wants a hybrid. I told her to make some calls and compare common repair charges, such as water pumps, alternators, timing chains etc. | |||||

| Great advice Chuck. I did some research last night and it looks like Royal Purple Synchromax could be just what I am looking for. It is the hot tip for the Honda manual transmissions and looks like it could work in my Mini. One BMW site recommends it for all of their manual transmissions and Mini's also. I am aware that it is not the GL75W90 that I believe is recommended for the Getrag 6 speed manual transmission in the Mini. More information is needed before I would attempt the change. | |||||

| Is it time to replace my Cooper Evolution tires? | 20Relevance | 3 years ago | Joeo | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| Hi, I have a set of Cooper Evolution tires on my Grand Marquis which are about five years old and have 40K on them. No issues with wear or such but my mechanic noticed they are starting to show some slight dry rot. I don't drive very much these days except for longer highway trips. Do you think it's time for me to replace them? Thanks | |||||

| I have Hankook Venus tires on my 2017 Mustang. They were good enough and cheap enough that I got another set after the originals wore out. I have Hankook white-wall tires on my 1979 Pontiac as well. They seem to be pretty good tires for the price point. | |||||

| Answer to: Compact Car, Smaller Tires Needed? | 20Relevance | 4 years ago | Chuck Tobias | Submit Your Question HERE | |
| You might be able to get a set of General Altimax RT43 tires that size around that price point. (Tirerack.com currently shows a set of four at about $456 but you have to add taxes, mounting, and balancing to that which will push the total over the $500 budget.) I've used these tires for years on my daily driver and they are very good mid-priced tires. Cooper has a good reputation and Cooper "Endeavor" tires are listed at Tire Rack for about $388 for four, but I have no personal experience with them. Online reviews are positive for whatever it's worth. Cheap tires are to be avoided (especially Chinese-made), but if on a tight budget Wal-Mart's "Douglas" tires are made by Goodyear and are decent (but you won't mistake them for Michelins) - $252 for a set of four. I have Douglas tires on some of my older vehicles that see little use and no problem with them but those cars are used so little that wear is not an issue. (Any tires on them will dry rot long before the tread wears out.) Most Douglas tires are made in the U.S. but the last set I bought was made in Brazil. Hopefully this gives you a starting point. | |||||

| Hi scotty, I got an Buick Enclave 2016 with only 65k miles, the AC stop working when to the dealer and they said the rear evaporator is leaking, they quoted me $1800 for the blower and evaporator replacement, is there any good mechanic in the DFW area that you might know trustworthy so I can get a second opinion, also I research it that the was a service bulletin referring to the rear evaporator and the blower, stating that the evaporator would contaminated the evaporator with some Cooper dust therefore the blower need to be replaced with a new design to prevent the Cooper dust been ingested to the evaporator.... need help to find a good mechanic in the DFW area. thanks {black}:hi: {black}:hi: | |||||
