100k miles per year - how often should I be changing my “life time trans fluid” in 2022 Promaster?
I have a 2022 Ram Promaster 3500 cargo van that I haul freight with across the country. Currently have 97,945 miles and I bought new Nov 22. My understanding is beginning with this model year it is a new (to the platform) 9 speed trans, but not new to Chrysler vehicles.
Apparently the filter is inside the transmission housing? I am told it would need to be opened to change that…so I am focusing on how often I should drain and fill the fluid under my specific use case? My goal is to reach a million miles. My cruise control never goes above 65mph, and I change oil and filter every 5,000 miles religiously myself. Could I change trans fluid myself?
I would love to see someone come up with a high mileage preventative maintenance guide for my type of driving as there are a lot of us out here in vans doing this. Thanks so much!

if you're haulin then you should be on your second change by now.

Every 45k if you're towing/hauling.

that's a tall order for a modern vehicle, especially this unibody Fiat Ducato (rebadged) designed in Italy and made in Mexico.
Unlikely with original engine/transmission.
The ZF 9HP48 is not known for reliability, and is already circled by recalls and lawsuits.
Not sure if you have the Pentastar or one of the French or Italian engines, but non inspire confidence. Scotty constantly warns against them. (PSA/Stellantix is "what happens when you merge one crappy manufacturer with another one")

just don't abuse it, stay on top of maintenance, and probably don't keep it too long.

Let us know if you manage to achieve 40% of that.
Generally it's good to change ATF every 60k miles.

This is actually the video that inspired my post. Thank you!
You're welcome!
My mechanic advised me once every 50k miles or 3 years.
