We have a 1988 Buick Regal with 142k miles that we can't get to start. It just shut off on us while driving, and we can't get it to start back. We have replaced the ECM, PROM, Crankshaft position sensor and ICM. We have fuel pressure within spec. We can get it to run on starting fluid. We got to the fuel injectors and confirmed that they are getting the signal via a NOID light. We then checked the resistance of the injectors and found 1 bad injector. So my question is. Can 1 failed fuel injector keep the other injectors from working? I ask since it seemed once we unplugged the bad injector the signal to fire the injectors seemed to become more clear.
Did the car sit for a long period before this resurrection? Good signal, proper resistance to the injectors doesn't mean they aren't physically clogged at their tiny orifices. Pull them out and soak them in carb cleaner, then bench test them.
