Can CV axle boot be repaired?

I pulled my cv because of a leaking inner boot. I have a spare axle that also has a torn boot but the boot has a tear the size of about 2 cm if not less at the end of the boot where it meets the shaft. I was wondering if its possible to repair the small tear and put it on my current factory axle.

No repair on an axle boot is going to hold up, they're subject to too much stress due to constant flexing.

The rubber is just worn out. Even if you somehow manage to patch it, it's just going to break again, because it's old and no longer supple. Don't bother with a new CV axle boot. The entire CV axle can be had for $80 or so and not have to mess with replacing a boot, which can be frustrating.

After you replace the CV axle, when it starts to become brittle again, hit it with some AT-205 reseal. It rejuvenates rubber seals, so long as it's not to the point where it leaks.

Cheap $80 aftermarket axles are NEVER a good substitute for the toyota genuine axles cause toyota builds their axles like tanks.

The usual fix is either replace the boot or replace the entire axle. You can try fixing the tear, and I’ve seen some hacks online trying to do so. But it really isn’t a proper fix.

If you don't trust AutoZone stuff, look on RockAuto for OEM parts. You will chase your tail having to constantly pull a CV axle because the rubber broke. You will never achieve another seal like it came from the factory. Once it's lost its supple nature, it's done.
