1993 F150 Lightning No Start, No Spark

Hi,

Took my Lightning into the shop because it was leaking coolant from the Timing Cover/Engine Block. Issue was a broken bolt for the cover. Swapped out the chain, Thermostat and cover.

Two additional issues I wanted looked at the shop but never was a brake fluid leak from a strange plug beneath the car and a gas not clearing into the forward tank. I thought the tank issue is a broken Fuel Filler hose but Mech said it is a Fuel Tank vent. He glued and pressed the vent into the tank to get me going. I am trying to buy those vent valves but I bought the one for the rear tank by mistake.

After exiting the shop I found the car hard to start. After a couple of drives, I couldn;t get the car on and got a new Bat. Even then I was not satisfied with the start.

Next day when leaving work, the car died while Driving, I started it up and it died again. I haven;t been able to get it on again. It cranks. I tried starting fluid but it would not react.

I suspect that it has to do with cold. The car has never been in sub 60 degree temps and all my issues started at night. Mech removed distributer cap and saw no to weak spark. He suspected the MSD aftermarket ignition. He tried another one but it did not work. I had suggested that he jump it to make sure but he said you can't. Now he thinks it may be Alarm or ECU. This makes no sense to me.

What do you think it might be? What should I do?

Thanks.

Check your alternator and battery.  Low voltage output can cause really weird problems.

Changed the Bat. Alternator? I figured that would not come into play during start. How does that work?

It's also really hard to test an alt on a car that won't start. How?
