I have a 1995 lexus ls400 that I changed out the cap, rotor, plugs, and wires. Long story short now it won't start. I took it to Firestone they told me the timing belt broke. So I changed the water pump and timing belt car still won't start. Made sure timming was set correctly by hand turning the motor over and making sure the timing marks still lined up every 2 rotations of the crank. At first I wasn't getting any spark. "The reason I took it to Firestone"
Now I changed the crankshaft sensor and I now have spark.
So I thought awesome to myself let's go but a can of starting fluid and try to spray some in and hope for the best. Still not starting as if there isn't any spark again.
I guess could I have got faulty plugs from ngk?
When I pulled out the plugs one by one and set them up so I can watch to make sure they had spark they all passed and showed spark.
I don't have a fuel pressure gauge. But I do know fuel is getting up to the fuel rail. From when I tried to start it the main fuel line was a little loose and I had fuel all over the top of the engine. So I'm at stand still and very confused. I'm almost to the point of calling a scrap guy to come get it... please help.?
Thank you in advance,
Frank Pleester Jr.
Email address removed. We don't need it and it's not a good idea to post it in public forums.
Did you install the tone ring for the crank sensor correctly? On some vehicles if inverted it will not start because the crank sensor can’t read the position of the crank with the ring installed incorrectly.
There was only one way to put it on. If I would have flipped it to put it in the other way it would be eating away at the timming belt.
Have you already browsed through this? - https://carkiller.com/scottykilmer/qa/nostart/
I don't have a compression tester that's the only thing I haven't done. I have taken the fuel supply line off and i have fuel going to that point. I have pulled the plugs out checked each one with the corresponding wires they all spark when I turn the key. Motor spins freely. I sprayed starting fluid down the intake and still nothing as if it's not getting any spark... I'm confused on why it wouldn't be starting...
Yeah like Joe suggested, start over with the basics. And check all the vacuum lines for any big leaks.
air cleaner? Catalytic converter? Did you expose the throttle when you were spraying the starting fluid?
IAC valve?
Don't scrap it. Trust me it's better to wait it out, you'll figure it out eventually if you actually want to. Start from the beginning again. Check compression, timing, ignition, spark, battery.
Sounds good
