Hey, I have a 1998 Chevy Astro AWD with around 200,000 miles. I have owned it most of its life, and recently it has developed a situation where it will get seems to get stuck in overdrive once driven on the highway. It will shift extremely wierd unless you pull over, turn off the vehicle for a minute or so, then it "resets" and is fine. Is this some sort of sensor or is an internal solenoid in the transmission shot? It has the gm 4L60e inside it. Thanks!!!!

- Fred's the computer module that operates the transmission often doing that will fix it because it's shutting it off and letting it sit resets the computer but it could also be just the transmission flat wearing out when it cools down it works again they aren't very well made vehicles
I think Scotty is completely wrong. The Astro may not be a luxury Lexus, but it's a solid workhorse. They were known to go half a million miles and more if they're taken care of. Often, the body deteriorates before the powertrain does. The PCMs aren't known to go out either, but wiring harness faults are not out of the question for a 23 year old vehicle.
Please describe your symptoms in detail as you experience them, not your guesses. Overdrive is often confused with torque converter lockup.
