2001 Dodge Ram 3500 Maxi Van

Have P1740 code mil.

Van shifts fine.

Can this code be narrowed down further so the right part can be replaced the first time?

June 2021 valve body was serviced by my independent mechanic.

New valve body

New solenoid assembly

New transmission wire harness

New Trans. filter.

1 Qt Trans. fluid

$1612.50 dollars.

It appears to be a problem with your torque converter, or overdrive clutch. Is it shifting into top (overdrive) gear?

Hi Chuck Tobias,
The van is not revving excessively high when operated above 50 mph so I would say overdrive does engage.

your link actually says torque converter clutch, or overdrive solenoid.

Either way, it needs to go to a transmission shop.
