Dear Scotty,

I watched one of your videos that dealt with maintenance of a car's A/C system.  I have a problem with my 2001, Honda Accord EX, 6 cylinder, auto transmission, no codes per Advanced Autoparts and Autozone computer readers.

When I am at idle or very slow speed forward I hear what sounds like water gurgling.  The car road noise is too loud for me to hear if this sound continues at higher speeds.

The A/C system blows nice and cold, and it is the original.  I have not added any coolant or coolant oil to the system, ever.

I am considering taking this car for a drive of several thousand miles through the southern, humid part of the southwest of the US.  I will need my air conditioning to work.

If your shop is open in Rhode Island I would appreciate an appointment to bring it in to you, unless you already know what the problem is from my description.

If you do not think I need an appointment, or simply do not have any openings in the next 3 weeks, then I would appreciate your reply either by a segment on your show, and/or by return email.

And I must tell you I have been fixing my own cars since I had to learn to do so while in college (had time, no money for a repair shop).  And your show is just GREAT.  All the other car shows are eating your dust!

Thank you.

With my best for you and yours,

Water gurgling in the dashboard is typically a sign of a low coolant level. Pull the radiator cap off when the engine is cold and look inside. It should be filled to the base of the neck where the radiator cap goes. Check the overflow as well. Pressure test your cooling system to see if there is a leak and pressure test the radiator cap. You may as well replace the cap, it's 21 years old if it's original. I would also think about replacing hoses if they are original as well.
