I really do NOT recommend it.

These have an interference engine and a belt and they’re old troublesome cars.

Try to find a Camry / Avalon / Accord / Civic / Corolla / Vibe - or at least, although it’s still a very questionable car with reliability concerns, a Sonata that’s slightly newer with the Lambda engine, not the Delta.

Truthfully, no. They were piles of junk back in the day. I would advise you not to get that and stay away from it like you're avoiding someone that has every single covid disease! If you would want something better than that, Toyotas and Hondas are obviously you're best bet. If you want a cheaper dependable car, Mazdas would be alright as long as it has an Aisin transmission or a manual transmission in it and if you baby it as much as you can too. Again, please don't get that Hyundai! It would definitely not be worth it whatsoever!

Thanks for the help. There's a 1997 toyota avalon with 200k I guess that might be better but it's $1700

No problem! The Avalon would be a lot better, great choice! One thing though since it has high mileage, be aware of how the condition is in the engine. Who knows if it was maintained properly or not lol. And make sure you take it to a mechanic too.

Old Mazda’s rarely have Aisin transmissions and those that do have the somewhat questionable 6 speed variant named “Ford AWF21”.
(As Mazda was owned by Ford during that period and made rebadged European market Ford products)
Truthfully the Ford AWF21 is pretty much the exact same unit as the “GM AF40” from the Chevy Cruze - It’s mediocre like most transmissions offered by Mazda, no better than the Jatco 5 speed conventional automatics, these also average 150k miles.
