Hey guys, still looking for a good daily driver sedan and came across a 2004 TownCar with 114,000 miles on it. The dealer wants $7700. If a mechanic does an inspection and says it’s good to go, would you buy it? I have a 07 F-150 with 170k miles and want something more comfortable and smooth to daily drive. Thanks for all of the help!

Well, the town cars can be pretty reliable. But just realize it is 20 years old and things will break from age

Thanks Scotty, really appreciate all of your advice and always look forward to watching you on TV every night! Will keep looking for a newer TownCar.

$7700 for a 20 year old car?

Yeah the price is insane. Unfortunately for me I live in a big city and the prices are bonkers even with this TownCar being a 2 hour drive away in a somewhat smaller town. For example, this chain dealership wants $10,700 for a 1997 TownCar with 67k miles in Raleigh, NC. All running cars seem to go for $10k even with 150k miles. So in my mind I don't know if I just buy this Lincoln or wait for the economy to crash.

That's an insane price for a 20-year-old car even by stealership standards. There's a lot to go wrong with a decades-old luxury car. I'd run away from that deal.

I generally agree. If it was $5k then I'd be less hesitant. I do have to wonder if the airbag suspension and all the electronic parts will start screwing up because it's a 2004. I think I'll pass but still it's impossible to find one in my area that hasn't been in an accident or in a gravel lot on a shady dealership.
