Hi folks,
I am looking at a 2007 Camry with only 68k miles priced at 6k. I’ve heard they have oil burning problems. Question is, how bad is it and around what mileage does it start happening? Can this one go to around 120k without causing major oil consumption issues?
Thanks
Clarification: Which engine is in the one you are looking at?
I don’t have the confirmation on that but lets assume if it is the 2.4 L 2AZ-FE engine.
I'd stay away from those engines. Why invite trouble?
So, the 2.4L I4 is the one to avoid in the 2007-2009 Toyota Camry’s as they have the oil consumption issues. The V6, meanwhile, does not have those issues.
See below for when they usually occur: but overall best to stay away from that engine in those years. Also, while primarily a design defect, to an extent infrequent oil changes also contributed (best to change engine oil every 3,000 miles on those).
