my 2008 toyota highlander has 173,000 miles on it ive had it for four years and since then ive always noticed the cold start rattle noise any idea how can it be corrected without Toyota replacing the VVTI cam gears which cost $5000 dollars

Honestly it will probably make that noise forever and run just fine. Even if you did change them, the noise would likely come back.. There are a lot of people with this same issue and maybe Toyota will run a service campaign or something in the future. Check out this video scotty just put out... https://youtu.be/4Ux667qwtGo
