My car is 89,000 miles, this problem I started to feel the car were charging to the right side when braking, then after a few weeks the car just started to use only the rear brakes, got the car to get a diagnostic and they told me, it is the master cylinder and they want to charge me 200 dollars to get a new one and replace it, money I don’t have right now, the car does not have brake fluid leeks, break fluid deposit is full, brake pedal does not sink to the floor, do you guys think, they get the diagnostic right? and I also want to try and replace the cylinder it’s just 70 dollars at autozone?

thanks in advance!

Today I replaced the master cylinder and the brakes have the same issue, I tried to bleed the front brakes and not a single drop of brake fluid came out of the bleed valve also the break pedal never went to the floor when the valve was open, any guesses? I think it can be something related to the ABS module I Dont Know

Pull out the bleeder screw and check them. I just replace 3 of mine. They were plugged shut.

Hello, thank you for your suggestion, the bleeder screws looks like new and no clogged or plugged.

Sorry it’s been a long time since las update but 2 weeks ago I took the car to the agency and they perform a brake flush and diagnosed a problem with the ABS module they said it was clogged and only the rear brakes were working and the module must be replaced, the total cost to replace the module and install it was 2000 dollars, I got the car 2 days ago and the brakes are working great, jus the break pedal is a bit lower than it used to be, thank you all for the help.

Inspect the front brakes, The pads and rotors.

Pads and rotors are just 20% worn down and they are not crystallized.

If you've completely lost the front brakes and there are no grinding noises from worn pads, it's possible you have a leaky caliper or brake hose. Is the master cylinder reservoir full or near full? If not then you have a leak.  Most likely a caliper, brake hose, or if you're in an area with salted winter roads a steel brake line could have rusted through. It is certainly possible for the master cylinder to develop a leak as well. You may see brake fluid under the dash where the brake pedal pushrod goes through the firewall if this is the case.

Hello, reservoir is full, no visible leaks yet and fortunately no rusty climate.

It is possible for a master cylinder to leak internally and leave no external signs of leakage. That's probably why your mechanic wants to replace it. The $200 you were quoted is actually quite reasonable for a job like that, but that doesn't help if you don't have it. Caliper and hose problems are much more common due to their being close to the road and exposed to the elements. I'd take a closer look there before throwing parts at the problem especially if money is tight. Also this is obviously a serious safety issue so if you have not worked on brake systems before make sure you understand what you're doing before proceeding. There are plenty of instructional videos out there.

Thank you chuck I just reed you comment, here it is my update:
Today I replaced the master cylinder(used Scotty video from while ago)and the brakes have the same issue, I tried to bleed the front brakes and not a single drop of brake fluid came out of the bleed valve also the break pedal never sink to the floor when the valve was open and applying pressure to thebpedal, any guesses? Might be something with the ABS, though another possibility is sometimes a hose will collapse internally and prevent fluid from getting through. Though usually what happens with that is fluid pressure is trapped in the caliper and it won't release. (I've had that happen.) Still, may be worth checking. Another thing to look at is remove the hose from the caliper and see if fluid comes out of the hose. Maybe there's a blockage inside the caliper.

Thank you Chuck I will check those 2 possibilities and update the post but I will have some time until the weekend Scared , thank again!

Hello, this weekend I was able to continue the diagnostic, I removed the hose from the caliper and no fluid came out of the hose when removed or tried to bleed the line, again the break pedal did not sink at all, on my second test I focused on the abs module, it has 2 lines in and 4 lines out, I remove one of the out lines, the one that goes to one of the front tires and tried to bleed and same result, no fluid came out of the module and pedal did not sink at all when tried to bleed, then I removed one of the abs in lines and instantly got the fluid out of the line there fore I think I have a bad abs module.
