[Solved] 2010 Camry all doors lock but only driver side door unlocks

Hey Scotty! Loving your new pad in Tennessee!

My 2010 Camry has buggy automatic door locks: when I press "unlock" on the keyfob or the door button, only the driver's door will unlock. If I manually unlock all the doors and press "lock", all doors will lock, but like before I can't get the other doors to unlock again. What could be the trouble? What can I do by myself? Will the repairs be expensive? Thanks man.

Is there a setting in the car where you can choose which doors unlock when you press your unlock button the fob?

Have you tried pressing the unlock button twice? Does the issue remain the same then, too?

... Actually, yes, there's a "choose which doors unlock" function in this car. And I just fixed it trying to use the instructions in the owner's manual - albeit after a dozen tries, and still not knowing exactly what I did, haha.

Why is this a feature? It's so friggin weird. Is this something that's in other cars too? Thanks a lot man - I might've wasted a lot of money sending this to a mechanic if I didn't look this up.

Haha, well done! It’s a safety feature designed so that only the driver’s door is unlocked when you press the unlock button once.

Most cars since the early 2000s have this feature.

Well, I did press the unlock button repeatedly before, but only the driver's door would respond. The weird thing is that you have to hold two keyfob buttons for five seconds and hold a door handle to cycle through whether or not you want the passenger doors to stay locked. If I was being chased by an axe-wielding serial killer, this might be a great feature, but in my normal boring life I don't think I need it haha.

Anyway, I attached a screenshot of the page where this weird feature is described. Hope this helps anyone else who might run into this problem.

I attempted this solution but nothing happens. Can you please clarify:

Does the key need to be in the ignition and turned off?
Do you hold the door handle from inside the car or the exterior door handle?
Is there a specific sequence - do you of press the 2 buttons before you hold the door handle?

@sroberts3 Yours may have a different procedure, since the previous member’s vehicle has push button start. Because your vehicle has a physical key, please check your owner’s manual for your vehicle specific procedure.

When all else fails, read your owner's manual.  If you can't find it, they're available on line for free, usually in PDF format to download.

The mechanic also suggested going to a Toyota dealership and have them reprogram the computer. I might consider going to see them first, unless anyone else has any suggestions.

Yes, ask them if there’s any software updates first, before you decide to replace the BCM.

Hey there @sroberts3. Yeah a little update on this issue. I went to the garage, and the mechanic said the body control module is going bad. Resetting the computer only worked for a short while. Replacement of the BCM with the garage would cost me ~$1000 CAD. All that stuff I found above is only if you have a certain Camry module of that generation with some "smartkey" thingy.

Anyway, I'm trying to find vids on how to replace it myself but they're hard to find. 😕
