2010 Lexus RX 350 or 2016 Honda CR-V

They both have around 95,000 miles on them, they were both owned by one owner and appear to have both had regular maintenance done. With the trade in offer I have on my 2016 Nissan Rogue either of these two will only cost me about $2,000.

I have not driven either yet but am scheduled to see them both on Friday. If they both seem comfortable and I like them both which do you think would be the better option? I just want a reliable car that I won't have to worry about or spend a lot of money on in the next 3 or 4 years.

Thank you 🙂

Many thanks to everyone who replied. I got the Lexus and I'm really happy with it so far 😊

So in general, a Lexus regular Automatic Transmission is more durable than a Lexus CVT?

I'd say in general, period. Lexus or not.

Well, the Lexus is a more Luxurious Car and the Honda CRV is just a normal compact SUV. Both can last a long time, but I would go for the CRV because it's less complex with a simpler engine, simpler electronics, and they are cheaper to repair and fix. Lexus is a great vehicle but they have awful infotainment systems that have problems here and there and the V6 requires more maintenance than the 4 cylinder in the CRV.

Assuming both are equal, get the CR-V if you want the lowest maintenance costs in the near future. Get the Lexus if you want the vehicle to last as long as possible.

As with any used car, have it thoroughly inspected by a professional mechanic, before purchase.

The Lexus parts will be much more expensive than the Honda, when they do eventually break.

For better longevity I would go with the Lexus RX350 over the Honda CR-V.  Also the Lexus doesn’t have all the fancy tech (including driver assist systems) that the CR-V has which means less things to break in the future.  And the RX350 has a regular automatic transmission and not a CVT (that the CR-V has), so should last longer (with proper maintenance).  Both are good, but I would go with the RX350.

Be sure before you buy to have an independent, honest mechanic with a fancy scan tool like Scotty’s check it out.

If they both checkout,  it falls down to personal preference. I rather have the luxury of the lexus. I would assume that the Honda would be cheaper to maintain.

As long as they both check out by mechanic, get whichever you like best. Personally I'd go with the newer CR-V.

I'd go with the Lexus. Make sure to have a mechanic check it out first though.

This is just gonna boil down to which one you like more. Are you looking for more Luxury? Then the Lexus but if you want to get something newer and zippy than get the Honda but just go with your gut and as always Scotty recommends you have a mechanic you trust check the car before buying because you never know.
