Hi Scott, I'm a car enthusiast and subscriber to your Channel I watch it all the time. My question is what would cause my vehicle to crank but not start after doing a timing job if the timing is right. When I say it won't start I mean it has started a few times since replacing all the timing components and when it starts and runs it sounds fine and Idol's fine but when I turn it off I can't get it to start again. I checked Spark I checked fuel and the battery is fully charged. The last time I got it to start I touched off the battery terminals for over 60 Seconds then reconnect to them and it fired right up but when I turned it off tried turning it back on again it just cranks it won't start. I'm pretty certain the timing is right, it took me four attempts before I finally got it so I don't think it's that. I'm thinking electrical? But what or where? Can you help point me in the right direction with this? It's a 2012 GMC Acadia Denali all wheel drive with 185,000 and all new timing components. There are a couple warnings on the dash when I put thr key in for service the stabilitrac and the park assist but no codes since the timing was done. Whatever advice you could give me would be greatly appreciated thank you
Well, there's so many things that can go wrong during a timing job if you're talking about taking an apartment, wasting a timing chain and all that stuff. But you did say it started after you did the job. So I'm assuming the timing is correct. So you want to watch my video "fixing a car that cranks but doesn't start up, scotty."
